Wednesday Night Greensboro Grasshoppers Report brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner: Hoppers feel “The Claw” as Jersey Shore tops Greensboro, 6-1, outhitting Hops 12-4, with Walling winner and he’s (6-0)

Wednesday Night Greensboro Grasshoppers Baseball Report
brought to us by Mike Causey for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner…..

from Wednesday night, at Lakewood, New Jersey:
Jersey Shore BlueClaws 6, Greensboro Grasshoppers 1
WP:Andrew Walling(6-0)
LP:Scott Randall(1-1)

Claws' Line- 6-12-0
Hoppers' Line-1- 4-0

Greensboro Grasshoppers(42-28)
Jersey Shore BlueClaws(41-30)

By just looking at the score, 6-1 being the final, and a five-run victory margin for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, well on the first impression, it looks like the Hoppers got run hard early possibly, and they lose by five big ones, you know, like this game might have been over, before it got started good, but That Was Not The Case….

JS took a 1-0 lead over the Hoppers, after the first inning, and then The Hops posted a solo run in the top of the fourth inning, and that tied the game at 1-1, and it stayed that way, until the bottom of the eighth frame, when the Claws scored 5 big runs to blow open the game, and Jersey Shore ends up winning the contest, going away….

Hoppers got hit hard and sort of blown away in that fateful bottom of the eighth inning, but before Jersey Shore shut the door in the 8th, the Grasshoppers made the game a tightrope most of the way…Only problem was, that the Greensboro Grasshoppers found that one run laying in the grass on the Jersey Shore, but they could find NO More…

Just the one run to show for the Hoppers offense, and The Hops got out-hit, 12-4…Plus this number sort of reaches out and grabs you…The Hoppers struck out 14 times at the plate, but Jersey Shore, only four…Just 4 Ks by the JS batters, and the Hoppers went down by way of the K, 14 times in the Wednesday night contest…

That sort of tells the story right there don’t you know…Just like Robbie Cano, don’t you know, said John Sterling…But it WAS the one run, and No More for the Hoppers, and the 12 Ks, do stand in the way of the path to first base, and beyond…

Let’s got back and look at it, and let it stare us right in the face, so we can let it take us to that place, where the Grasshoppers found their offense on Wednesday….
Top 4th
Hudson Head singles on a ground ball to right fielder Troy Schreffler. Mitch Jebb scores.
GBO 1,JS 1

Here is how the JS BlueClaws found those five fateful runs that finshed off their foe, the Hoppers, who could only scratch out the one tally for the night…BlueClaws on the move in the Bottom of the Eighth Inning…..
Bottom 8th
Justin Crawford doubles on a soft line drive to third baseman Maikol Escotto. Erick Brito scores.
GBO 1,JS 2

Jordan Dissin singles on a line drive to center fielder Hudson Head. Justin Crawford scores. Keaton Anthony to 2nd.

Hopper Hitters on Wednesday night:Hudson Head got half the Hoppers’ hits, as he went 2-4/RBI…Mitch Jebb was 1-3/BB/Run…Head and Jebb accounted for all of the Hoppers scoring…One more Hopper hit and it belongs to Geovanny Planchart as he goes 1-3/BB…No Hopper extra-base hits in this game, at all….Maikol Escotto was a baserunner for the Hoppers as went 0-2/BB at the plate…

Not a bad night/game at for the Hoppers’ starting pitcher, Dominic Perachi…He worked for six innings, allowing 1 run, on 4 hits, with 1 BB/4 Ks…Losing pitcher for the Grasshoppers, Scott Randall, got run pretty hard as we was in there for 1 2/3s, giving up 5 runs, on 8 hits, with 1 BB/O Ks…All five of the runs off Randall, were earned runs…

Right place at the right time for JS BlueClaws’ WP Andrew Walling…He worked the 8th and 9th for the Claws, and JS scored those five game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th, right after Walling came on…For Walling it was 2 innings, with 0 runs on just one hit, with 4 Ks, to get the “W”…

At the plate, the Claws ended up with 3 Doubles, and a Triple….Erick Brito was 2-5/Double/2 Runs…Keaton Anthony went 2-3/BB/RBI…Emaarion Boyd 2-4/Run…Troy Schreffler 1-4/Triple/Run/2 RBI…Zack Arnold 2-4/RBI…Aidan Miller 1-4/Double…Justin Crawford 1-4/Double/RBI/Run…Jordan Dissing 1-4/Run/RBI…6 Runs, on 12 Hits, for the Claws….

Hoppers with just the one run, on 4 hits, and ended up 12 Ks at the plate, and that might be the story of the game, right there, plus shutdown pitching from Andrew Walling, late in the contest for the JS BlueClaws…
