Caitlin Clark’s outstanding rookie campaign continued Sunday against the Seattle Storm, seeing the Indiana Fever star etch her name in the WNBA record books once again.
With 4:41 left in the opening half, Clark found teammate Lexie Hull For assist No. 225 on the year. That’s the most by a rookie in WNBA history, topping the previous mark (224) held by Ticha Penicheiro (1998).

Caitlin Clark has set a new @WNBA record for most assists in a season by a rookie!
With a dozen games remaining on the Fever’s schedule, Clark’s rookie record will continue to climb. But could she challenge for the all-time single-season mark?
Connecticut Sun five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas set the record (316) for assists last season. Heading into Sunday’s action, Clark averaged 8.3 assists per game, so theoretically, if she plays the remaining 12 games on the schedule and keeps the same pace, it’d be close but not impossible.
Furthermore, Clark has been surpassing her averages for quite some time now, posting 11.7 assists per game since June 23. Meanwhile, over the last 12 games alone, she’s accumulated 130 assists.
It’s still unlikely that Clark catches Thomas. However, after everything the No. 1 pick has accomplished, from posting the first-ever rookie triple-double to becoming the fastest player to reach 400 points and 200 assists, doubting her might be a mistake.
