Used to see Joe Daniels over at Tarpley Stadium(Dudley HS) on Friday nights, and he might be looking for a roster, or maybe looking for some results, but he was never far away from taking another photograph…He took photos/pictures for the local Carolina Peacemaker Newspaper, and Joe Daniels might out there getting Dudley, Smith, Grimsley, Page, or any local high school sports photo…
He took photos at high school games, college games, and even at Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets games…Joe Daniels was like a former military man, he took care of his business, and gettting the best photograph was his top priority….He got the job done, but now he is Gone….Going for sure miss seeing him around the local sports scene…
RIP:Joe Daniels

Thank you for this. RIP
Joe Daniels was a mentor, brother and NCCU Eagle. His passion for sports coverage started in college, where he followed the exploits of Olympians Edwin Roberts (64, 68 and 72) and Norman Tate (68). He joined another fellow Eagle, Terry Amos, into an officiating career. Joe was a walking encyclopedia of sports. He covered them all. He wrote, took pictures and chronicled the stories and performances of the best and those in contention all over the nation. His love for NCCU, Greensboro sports, and especially track were unmatched in journalism. We mourn his passing, but celebrate his life, love and friendship.
Joe & I met as freshman at “NCC” in 1961. If there was a game, Joe & his cameras was there. RIP ?
