Moving Monday Madness, as High School Football makes its way onto the Labor Day schedule: SEG threatens Dudley Panthers’ End Zone, but Robert McCoullum(DHS) takes it 94 yards the other way

Monday afternoon early game final:High Point Andrews 50, High Point Central 0
HPA(2-0)/HPC(0-2)

I can still remember seeing Labor Day Monday high school football, with Grimsley at home vs. I think it was Raleigh Athens Drive, and I saw a game back around 2008, and it was a Page Pirates JV football game, with JV James Summers at QB, and RB Drew Rogers for the Pirates…Grimsley at it on Labor Day about 6-8 years ago, and Page towing the line on Labor Day Monday, say around 16 years ago…

Tonight we saw the Dudley Panthers top the Southeast Guilford Falcons, 49-0…This game was close….Very close, as SEG had the ball at the Dudley 1 1/2 yard line, with just about a minute left in the first half…Southeast had driven the football the length of the field, with the good help of some Dudley penalties, but after one of those self-inflicted penalties, Dudley gave the ball to the SEG Falcons, with the football resting on the Dudley 1 1/2 yard-line…

Dudley is only up by two TDs, as the score reads on the brand new Tarpley Stadium scoreboard, there at Dudley HS, Dudley 14, Southweast Guilford 0….Fourteen-to-nothing Dudley, but the SEG Falcons have the ball First-and-Goal, at the Dudley 1 1/2 yard-line…Then SEG calls a play, and that play sends the SEG QB Alexander Marsh rolling to his left, and he tries a short pass, and the football is picked off, by Dudley Panthers LB Robert McCollum, and he is off the races…

Mcollum takes the football all the way down to the SEG five-yard line, and it looks like Dudley is about to score again, and they do….After the McCollum pick, and it was a near Pick Six, but McCollum was denied, and Dudley had survived the SEG Challenge….Like he/we was/were saying, after the Pick Six Look, Dudley went straight to the Wildcat QB, Jerron Blackwell, and Blackwell made a move to his right, cut back to the left, and Blackwell was in the End Zone…

If SEG go in and score that touchdown, the score would have been Dudley 14-7, or 14-8, or even 14-6 over SEG, but Southeast would have been on the scoreboard, and this would have been a one-touchdown game…But Dudley gets the BIG play and the Panthers were on their way to a running clock in the Second Half…(One the big pick occured there was less than a minute left in the first half.)

Dudley got a TD pass from Braden Jeffries to Nas Newkirk, and another TD pass going from Jaquez Crawford to Antonio Lee…Jeffries ran one in on about an eight-yard scamper for the score, plus LJ Southern had a beautiful 49-yard run for a TD, and he has punt return that gave Dudley great field position…Dudley also got a TD run from RB Jayden Brown….Kordell Bartley got a TD run for Dudley, and the Panthers were never slowing down….

Dudley got the running clock moving fast in the second half, and there was no way for the SEG Falcons to catch the Dudley Panthers…SEG got a great effort from their QB Alexander Marsh, and I do believe SEG should have tried to run that ball in from the 1 1/2 yard-line instead of putting the ball in the air in the close quarters, but that is just me, and what do I know??? I am just one of those Labor Day Monday quarterbacks…

Marsh played well for Southeast and in the end, we had LJ Southern at the Dudley Panthers “Mike Causey for Insurance Commissioner Player of the Game”, and we had Robert McCollum coming up with the “Mike Causey for Insurance Commissioner Play of the Game”…That was the word tonight, on our REMAX Revolution Recap postgame show…

A couple of more players that shined for Dudley on Monday night, and these guys made the list from Coach Randy Norris Sr.:
Dakota Brown, Dre Deese, Jerron Blackwell, Jalile Elliot, Andrew Rogers, Le’Ezra Brown, Jordan Ratliff…Also, Adrian Gaylord had a pick for SEG…Lawrence Hayes with a big reception for the SEG offense…
