Tonight in and around Guilford County…..
Durham Hillside(0-2) at Dudley(1-0) 7pm
From the Tarpley Stadium/”The Tarp” this will be our Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialist Game of the Week on GreensboroSports Radio One…Coach Randy Norris Sr. will join for the call of this game between the Dudley Panthers and the Durham Hillside Hornets on GreensboroSports Radio One…Dudley strong during their first two games of the season, and still using the two Quarterback system with Jaquez Crawford and Braden Jeffries taking the snaps…
Jeffries has been the better runner, and Crawford the better passer…Nas Newkirk has been leading the Panther receivers, while Jayden Brown and LJ Southern have both been very effective as the top running backs for the Panthers…Brown tops overall right now, and Southern running right there with Brown….
Along with Newkirk, receivers CJ Neely, Kordell Bartley, and Antonio Lee all contributing to the Dudley cause…Dudley O-line moving the opposing defenses back, and Dudley’s defense is very stout, with DEs Elliot and Andrew Rogers more than getting it done…Add in Jordan Ratliff and Dakota Brown, along with Seth Lawrence, all up front, and you might think you have landed on the Carolina Panthers instead of the Dudley Panthers…
Don’t know much about Durham Hillside going in, but we will learn alot about them, and know them well before the night is done…
WS Reagan(2-0) at Grimsley(2-0) 7:30pm
Big Week last week, with Grimsley Whirlies Hudson Cooper having over 200 yards receiving and he had two TD catches…Cooper becoming a #1 target for Whirlies’ QB Faison Brandon…Kaden Catoe is like a Whirlie #1 threat too…Copper put up the Numbers for Grimsley last week, and we will see this again before the season is over, but in reality, Catoe will still be the “Go To” guy for the Grimsley Whirlies…Bryce Davis is among those that are leading the Grimsley defense to battle…Leaving somebody out??? Yes, let’s go back and make a note on Caden Catoe, on of of Grimsley’s top local receivers…Need more info on Catoe and more…The Grimsley running led by Mitchell Summers will not be denied, and in turn that Whirlie running game, led by Summers is very hard to stop….
Western Guilford(2-0) at Southern Guilford(1-1) 7pm
The Hornets with three strong and active runners in Timothy Baker, Elijah Hayes, and Caleb Moore…Baker and Hayes have running really hard, and Moore can also help the Hornets move the chains…Western Guilford much improved, and they will be going hard with the intent to knock off Southern Guilford on the way to a strong WG Metro 4-A showing…SG has QB Seth Davis, and he runs a good offense, plus Harris also helps kids in the kids quest to get college educations….SG also works in RJ Scott at QB, and he gives SG a strong running force….
Ragsdale(2-0) at Oak Grove(1-0) 7pm
Ragsdale is sitting pretty at (2-0) and many of the Tiger faithful are finding it hard not to get excited, as this new opponent prepares to come up against the Tigers, and RHS should be starting to get that sort of feeling you get when things are working out, close to how you planned them…The Ragsdale running game is what impressed me the most when I saw Ragsdale in the preseason, and as I see them again, here in the third week of the regular season, the Ragsdale running game, is still running strong…
Page(0-2) at Mount Tabor(1-1) 7pm
The Page JV team is (3-0), so the youth movement at Page is paying prime dividends on the lower level, but on the Varsity level at Page HS, the going has been tough, and it is not getting any easier…Mount Tabor lost to Grimsley, but the Spartans hung in there with the Whirlies in the early stages of the game….Page fell hard to Dudley, and then the Pirates lost to the Reidsville Rams last week…Like we have been saying in this post, It Does Not Get Any Easier….Page has to find some way to open up its Offense, and then hope that the Defense doesn’t suffer from the word we are putting out for the Varsity Teams…Good runners at Page, and we hope that their team will be ready use this for getting the Page Pirates into the Winning Mode…Another tough one for Page this week, and on the road of all things…
WS Reynolds(2-0) at Northwest Guilford(2-0) 7pm
NWG was without their top running back McKinnly Vance last week, but that did not slow down the Vikings…NWG worked well at Burlington Williams and with Rakem Hammock getting into the fold, and as he begins to post bigger numbers, NWG will take down more favored teams…NWG has a very good field goal kicker, and on defense, the Vikings are strong again this season…NWG getting good leadership and support for their QB Anders Mitchell, and Northwest is moving forward at the right pace…
Thomasville(1-1) at High Point Andrews(1-0) 7pm
Andrews will have to stay on top of this one, or the HP Andrews machine will find themselves in deep trouble for this season…We have seem some tight games for the Red Raiders and we know that they are tough, but we find the Thomasville Bulldogs to be pretty tough too…HPA won their first game 28-26 vs. Bartlett Yancey, but last week the HPA Red Radiers rolled, 50-0 over HP Central…Andrews has those track athletes, but Thomasville has kids that know how to run, and they run fast…
Southeast Guilford(1-0) at Lee County(2-0) 7:30pm
We saw SEG at Dudley last week, and the SEG Falcons can do some things…They have a steady and solid QB in Alexander Marsh…Marsh can pass, but he is also a very good runner…Receivers Eric Gladney and company can go get those Marsh passes, but Southeast might need more Marsh on the ground than in the air…The Falcons are talented, and we feel the running game is their key component…
Eastern Alamance(0-1) at Northern Guilford(2-0) 7:30pm
Jackson Kemp at QB, Amare Akers and Dwight Hall at running back, and we must add in, Kemp is a very good runner too…He can pick them up, and put them down, as they say in the military…Kevin Willoughby and others form a very good receiving corp for the NG Nighthawks…Chance Crews leads a tough NG defense, with Crews as good as any of the linebackers in Guilford County this season…..Again, keep an eye on Kemp….
We will have this game broadcast for you on GreensboroSports Radio Two….Listen in with Demetri Morrison here on GreensboroSports Radio Two…It is here for you, GreensboroSports Radio Two….
Northeast Guilford(0-2) at Morehead(0-2) 7:30pm
Tristan Tucker at QB, Tre Alexander at RB, and receivers Aaryn Tate and Ashton Timberlake, and with those guys and a few others, you have yourself a winless team, that is better than what many of the locals have been saying…NEG is a good team…Two tough losses to begin the new campaign………
High Point Central(0-1) at Southwest Guilford(0-2) 7:30pm
Have seen both of these two teams in practice, but I am not sure which of these two lower tier teams, is the best…SWG has the edge with more numbers…
Rockingham County(2-0) at Reidsville(2-0) 7:30pm
Know the names for Reidsville, in Diontae Neal, and Jariel Cobb, with Neal the new Reidsville QB, and Cobb an old-school runner, who is the top RB in Rockingham County…
Ravenscroft(1-1) at High Point Christian Academy(3-0) 7pm
Will have to work to find info on these two….
