UNCG Women’s Soccer Drops Road Match to Coastal Carolina
CONWAY, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s soccer team fell to non-conference foe Coastal Carolina, 2-0, on Thursday night at the Coastal Carolina Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
About 23 minutes into the first stanza, the Chanticleers cut off a pass in their defensive half. Stella Lawson fed Tamlyn Parkes who was running down the left side of the field. Parkes then sent a through ball into the 18-yard box finding Eleanor Ashton for a one-timer to the back of the net at 23:39 giving Coastal Carolina a 1-0 lead.
With two minutes before halftime, the Chants collected the ball at midfield and made their way through traffic. Rami Rapp dribbled into the box and slipped the ball to Ashton for her second goal of the game and a 2-0 advantage at 43:20. Coastal Carolina held the edge in shots, 7-0, going into the break.
The Spartans matched the Chants’ pace of play in the second half and held them scoreless.
