High School Football this week:
Northwest Guilford(3-0) at Western Guilford(3-0) 7:30pm…Doug Henderson Stadium
First time since 2007 that Western Guilford has been (3-0) to start the season, and the last time WG beat Northwest Guilford, was 2007…Lots of wins for NWG in this series, but WG may still lead the series overall…NWG led new QB for 2024, Anders Mitchell, and he has Rakem Hammock, Quincy Bell Jr. and others to throw to, plus NWG is running strong with Nathan Cox and they are hoping for a healthy McKinnly Vance at RB…NWG with a strong kicker in Nolan Hagemann, plus Austin Jackson has been the defensive leader so far for the NWG Vikings…
Western Guilford has a three-headed monster at running backs, with Timothy Baker, Elijah Hayes, and the Hornets’ QB Caleb Moore, and this Moore kid can run too…WG will have to be able to run, because the Hornets don’t have a real effective passing game…Both teams at (3-0) and if Western Guilford can pull off the victory, the fans will be dancing in the street out in front of the Friendly Psychic House, there on Friendway Drive just a minute from the Western Guilford campus…Got to get Baker, Hayes, and Moore running real hard in order for WG to be in this game…Those must be ready to lead and help carry the Hornets, and one of the real keys will be, how well the Hornets can do up front, along the offensive line…That line must get off a super-hard push in they want get their backs rolling…Up front, along those trenches, that is where the game will be won, or lost…
Game can be heard on GreensboroSports Radio 1 from the Doug Henderson Stadium, on the Western Guilford campus…Pregame run starts at 6:45, with the Opening Kickoff coming at 7:30pm…Hear it all, with Coach Randy Norris Sr. joining us right there on, GreensboroSports Radio…Check in, and cash in, and find who gets the win, right here on GreensboroSports Radio…
Ragsdale(2-1) at Northern Guilford(3-0) 7:30pm…Johnny Roscoe Stadium
This game will feature Northern Guilford QB Jaxson Kemp, who leads the Unbeaten Nighthawks into Johnny Roscoe Stadium…NG has bookend running backs, in Dwight Hall and Amare Akers…NG goes hard at WR with Kevin Willoughby,
Christian Morrison, and Reggie King…King might just be the Cream of the Crop, from out there on Spencer Dixon Road…We see how well the NG Defense holds up(led by Chance Crews and others), vs. the stout, hard-hitting, strong and long driving Ragsdale Tigers…Braylon Louis leads the Ragsdale offense from his QB spot, and he has runners like Fabian Diggs(336 yards/2 TDs) and Ja’mere Sesley backing him up…Anthoney Washington and Jamaree Horton are the top Tiger receivers..You can listen to this game on Greensboro Radio 2 with Demetri Morrison….Game time at 7:30pm, and pregame goes off at around 7pm…GreensboroSports Radio 2, with Nighthawks and Tigers going hard…
Grimsley(3-0) at Southeast Guilford(2-1) 7:30pm…Bill Slayton Stadium
Mitchell Summers will work to get it going for Grimsley, and the senior running back is among the tops in the state…Whirlies QB Faizon Brandon is listed as the top QB in the nation, and Bryce Davis is ranked as one of the top defensive players in the land…That is a boatload of talent right there…Add in a couple of those new receivers, and Grimsley is motoring…SEG led by their QB Alexander Marsh, who can pass and run…Tariq McLauglin has been the top SEG running back…Top SEG receiver is Eric Gladney…Whirlies have a large edge, and they are hungry for another Metro 4-A Conference Title…
Page(0-3) at Southwest Guilford(1-2) 7:30pm
This will be where Page is looking for a breakout win, their first of the season, and how will the Pirates march into “The Ranch”, where they face the run-oriented SWG Cowboys??? Page may also find their best option is the run game, as the Pirates try and establish a solid footing at SWG…
Dudley(3-0) at High Point Central(0-3) at Simeon Stadium in High Point…7pm
Dudley could establish the running clock in the first quarter, we will see how that goes, but with Crawford and Jeffries rotating at QB, and with Southern, Brown, and Wilson at RB, then you have Newkirk, Neely, Bartley, and Lee at WR, this Dudley team just how to make sure that they warn their opponents before the game begins…Just ask HP Central to Pick Your Poison…Dudley has it and as they enter conference play, Look Out…
Northeast Guilford(1-2) at Eastern Guilford(0-3) 7pm…Tommy Grayson Stadium
Northeast has not defeated Eastern Guilford in 12 years(Going back to August 31, 2012)…Long draught right there…NEG offense is ahead of the NEG defense so far this season….NEG solid at QB(Tucker) and WR(Tate and Timberlake) and fairly steady at running back(Alexander)…EG is trying to replace last year’s do-all man, Jackson Jones…RB Caleb Creech needs to establish his game early vs. NEG, and WR/KR/DB Steven Murray needs the ball…Got to get him going and things will start flowing for the EG Wildcats…
Southern Guilford(1-2) at Rockingham County(2-1) 7pm
Still learning the strengths of the SG Storm, but I do know they are still real young at QB…Former Page head coach Doug Robertson is at The Rock, and he has his boys ready…Coach Mills, the head man for the SG Storm, worked for Coach Rob, at Thomasville and at Page HS…In other words, they know each other, and they know what each other’s teams like to do…
WS Atkins(0-3) at Smith(2-1) 7pm…Claude Manzi Stadium
The WS Atkins Camels are a lot better than what their record indicates, but for Smith, it all comes down to, “Can the Golden Eagles get their QB rolling?” Get him rolling right, rolling left, and then rolling right up the middle for MORE rushing yards…If Smith can limit their mistakes, then Ben will get the win…Ben L. Smith…Ben wants and needs the win, and does not want to get hit by the “L” in Ben L. Smith…
High Point Andrews(3-1) at West Stokes(3-1) 7:30pm
Strongest part we saw of Andrews last week, was that Andrews running game. With RBs, Darion Avery and Brandon Sturdivant, plus a running QB in David Hill Jr., High Point Andrews is good for over 200 yards per game rushing…Ja’Neil Harris is a very good wideout for the Red Raiders…
Charlotte Country Day(3-2) at High Point Christian Academy(4-0) 7pm
Tyler Eley is the HPCA QB, and he has a WR Toot Clay, that is a real threat on the outside…The HPCA running game is also very potent…These numbers bear out what we are saying about the HPCA Cougar runners…Jaylen Moore(HPCA) 605 yards on 45 carries and 11 TDs…Danarius Gibson(HPCA) 308 yards on 30 carries with 6 TDs…
