Northern Guilford over the Southeast Guilford Falcons on Thursday night, at a very wet Bill Slayton Stadium on the SEGHS campus…
The NG Nighthawks got two Kobe Guardado field goals, and they were enough to give Northern Guilford the victory, and pushes the ‘Hawks up to (5-0/2-0), and has them tied with the Grimsley Whirlies, for the top spot in the Metro 4-A Conference…The Page Pirates are a half game back of both NG and Grimsley, with Page standing at (1-0) in the Metro, with their game for this week, coming up on Friday night, versus the Ragsdale Tigers…
Grimsley and Northern currently in first place, and the Page Pirates right behind them, nipping at their heels…
Kobe Guardado was the man with the Golden Foot, for the NG Nighthawks on Thursday night…Guardado hit a 17-yard FG for Northern with 2:45 left in the First Quarter, and then “Kobe the Kicker” struck again, with 8:18 to play in the Second Quarter, and this enabled Northern Guilford to lead Southeast Guilford, 6-0 at Halftime, and then is what the Final Score ended up being, 6-0, in favor of the NG Nighthawks…
The Southeast Guilford has their chances in this game, but SEG continually fell short, and they missed a chance at key late in the game First Down, when SEG Falcon receiver Eric Gladney came up just bit short on a key fourth down play in the last minutes of the ball game…SEG was coming up just a little big short on some very crucial plays, throughout this contest…
Gladney with some receiving numbers on this night, for the SEG Falcons….Bryant Arant had a big play on a muffed punt snap, the ball just did not get back to Arant cleanly, and he ended up running for around 40 yards, before the NG Nighthawks got their momentum rolling, and found all else to be becoming very soon…
Guardado hits those two huge field goals for Northern and what did the Nighthawks do with that momentum??? Not much really, but that is because SEG would not allow NG into the Falcons end zone…The SEG Falcons Defense put up a NO Trepassing Sign in their end zone, and didn’t up a TD to NG…
Very good SEG Defense led by the Falcons’ Tyrone Boyd who had a very big Fumble Recovery for the Falcons…Boyd in on other SEG Tackles also…
Running way hard for the Falcons was RB Ian McKinnon who had 88 yards rushing for SEG…Teriq McLaughlin coming to the aid of his very potent Southeast Guilford football family…SEG will rule and retain most of 30-plus leaders, that may not show what all the fuss is really about…McKinnon again with 88 yards, McLaughlin had 29 rushing yards, and QB Alexander Marsh ran for 24 yards for the SEG Falcons and he threw for 30 yards…
NG got running with Dwight Hall on the grounder lanes…NG Nighthawks still looking at Hall and Amare Akers to carry their running game, and on Thursday, it was Hall with 39 yards rushing, and Akers was even stronger for NG, as Akers went rushing for 54 yards on the night…NG QB Jackson Kemp was the top ‘Hawk, as Kemp was throwing for 71 yards and on the ground, Kemp came up with 46 yards, and he a couple of real nice, long runs….
Looking back at more NG Defense, it was Chance Crews with 6-plus tackles, Parker Peters had 4 Tackles/2 Sacks/1 Fumble Recovery….Some good overall numbers coming in, and Coach Randy Norris was tracking our Stats for the NG-SEG game, for GreensboroSports.com/GreensboroSports Radio….
Back on some of that ealier talk, we gave you FG kicker Kobe Guardado as one of our Players of the Game, and we also give you Jaxson Kemp, the NG QB, that helped lead his team back to the Victory…Our Mike Causey for Insurance Commissioner “Play of the Game”, goes to Byron Arant, and he is the punt return man for the SEG Falcons, and Arant picked up quick and steady yards for SEG Falcons, after he picked up a Bad Falcon Snap, and he took off, and he was headed for Daylight….
The Final Score, was 6-0, and this SEG-NG game was loaded with Action….
Good games on Friday night, and the Metro is shaping up to be a race between NG, Grimsley, and Page for the current times…Northern at Northwest Guilford next week, and then the NWG Vikings, might be back on that roll..
Thursday Night Football Finish is just finished, and hope to add some MORE to this post on Saturday morning…
The only race in the Metro Conference is the race for everything below 1st place. Grimsley has the Metro locked up AGAIN this year.
I agree every other team is so dang bad it is shameful
