UNCG Men’s Soccer Defeats Radford Handily, 3-0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s soccer team dominated the Radford Highlanders on the way to a 3-0 victory on Tuesday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

The win extended UNCG’s unbeaten streak to seven games.

The Spartans were led by Yoshiya Okawa, who scored twice against his former team in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Okawa put the Spartans up first in the 11th minute after he received a pass from redshirt sophomore Steven Hernandez out of the left corner and buried it with his left foot. UNCG carried the 1-0 lead into the break while also having the upper hand in, corner kicks, 3-1, and shots, 7-3.

The second half saw UNCG continue to control play through the finish. Okawa scored again for the Spartans in the 66th minute after Hernandez drew a penalty. Shortly thereafter in the 68th minute, Maddox Mallery scored off a pass from Colton Sessoms. Sessoms used his speed to draw the Highlanders’ goalkeeper out of the net before passing the ball off to Mallery on the right side of the 18-yard box. Mallery then fired the ball across the ground and into the goal through two Radford defenders from distance to make it 3-0.
