Arrest made in murder of former Page High, Clemson receiver Diondre Overton: Guilford County Sheriff’s Office

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that an arrest has been made in the murder investigation of former Page High and Clemson wide receiver Diondre Overton, who was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sept. 7 in Greensboro.
Jeremiah Diago Blanks, 20, has been charged with felony first-degree murder. Detectives arrested Blanks in Michigan on Tuesday with help of the U.S. Marshals Service, according to a press release.
Blanks is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac, Michigan, pending extradition.
On Sept. 7, deputies responded to a call regarding a noise disturbance at a loud house party on Spring Mill Road in Greensboro. While on their way to the scene, deputies said they received updated information indicating that a shooting had occurred.
When deputies arrived, they found Overton suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Overton died at the scene at just 26 years old.
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a news conference regarding the arrest Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m., per a release.

1 charged with murder after Greensboro native, former Clemson wide receiver fatally shot at party, Guilford County deputies say
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A suspect was arrested on Tuesday in connection to the shooting death of a former Greensboro football player, according to a Guilford County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Diondre Overton, 26, was a wide receiver and cornerback at Page High School before attending Clemson University. Throughout his career there, he scored seven touchdowns, rushed 777 yards and received 52 receptions. He averaged 14.9 receptions, according to ESPN.
On Sept. 7 around 2:30 a.m., deputies responded to a call about a loud party and noise disturbance at the 3200 block of Spring Mill Road. Deputies then learned of a shooting at the scene.
Overton was identified as the shooting victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the GCSO Major Crimes Investigative Unit obtained a warrant for 20-year-old Jeremiah Diago Blanks for felony first-degree murder.
Detectives went to Michigan and got help from the U.S. Marshals Service to make the arrest.
Blanks was arrested in Detroit and has been charged by the GCSO with felony first-degree murder.
Blanks is in the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac, Michigan, pending extradition.
But still no arrest in the murder of Sincere Davis in March 2019 last time I checked, and everyone at Page knew who the killer was and so did the cops. And no one seems to care anymore.
Glad they got the guy who shot Diondre, but Sincere and his family also deserve justice.
