Southeast Guilford(7-4) at Grimsley(11-0) 7:30pm and this game can be heard on GreensboroSports Radio, with Demetri Morrison on the call…
Faizon Brandon with big-time numbers in Grimsley’s win over Western Guilford last week, and he put up all those big numbers in just one half of play…SEG at Grimsley…SEG, wants to be more than just a one-hit wonder, and Grimsley wants to protect their home turf and their number one seed…SEG coach Earl Bates has worked wonders over the years in the playoffs, with his teams at Morehead, Southern Guilford, and Northeast Guilford, now also Southeast Guilford all coming up with upsets on the road in the playoffs over the years…
Southeast Guilford with runners like Ian McKinnon, who had 4 rushing touchdowns in the SEG 46-45 OT win at WS Reagan last Friday night…McKinnon, Teriq McLauglin, Caleb Jackson and the QB Alexander Marsh all very capable runners…Running seems to be the strength of the SEG offense, but they also have two solid receivers in Eric Gladney, and LeMell Bess…Micah Martin at left tackle opens up big holes for his runners, so let’s see if SEG can find a running lane vs. Grimsley and Bryce Davis, plus Andre Hill up front on the Grimsley “D”…SEG led by McKinnon, Jackson, and free safety Adrian Gaylord on defense, while Kingston Davenport also lends much help to the Southeast Guilford defense…
Grimsley will look to put the ball in the air again this week, with Khyan Battle, Kaden Catoe, and Patrick Carter all hauled in passes from QB Faizon Brandon last Friday night vs. Western Guilford…Brandon played just one half, and he put up 240 yards passing, with 4 TD passes and he ran 40 yards for a score…#22 Mitchell Summers has surpassed his uniform number with touchdown numbers this season, with the top Whirlie RB Summers, already at 33 TDs scored on the season…

The Northwest Guilford Viking team(9-2) has to go to Mooresville(10-1) of all places…Was up that way in Mooresville for the playoffs myself, back around 2001, and that town turns out to support their Mooresville HS Blue Devils…Going to be tough to win up there, but the NWG running game can get it done…Nathan Cox the strongest NWG runner last week with 122 yards on the ground, and if it were me and I was with NWG, I would pound and ground that hound/dog again…NWG also giving WR Rakem Hammock about 6 carries last week, and I would let that kid run around again this week too, he has the speed….Bring on, and mix in Easton Dean, and hopefully a healthy McKinnly Vance, and those runners might just get you to the next round…Run it until they stop you NWG, and then run it some more…NWG QB Anders Mitchell numbers were down last week in the Vikings win over Charlotte Olympic…Collyn Shokes up front, Freddie Shaw and Charles Mitter at LB, plus DBs Austin Jackson and Herb McNeal seal the deal on Defense…McNeal now with 8 interceptions in 2024, and Jackson is a headhunter back their on the last tier of the NWG “D”…
Junior QB Brody Norman is very explosive on offense for Mooresville…Norman with 2,242 passing yards, featuring 24 TD passes, with 9 Interceptions….This guy is Lake Norman flowing through Mooresville when you add in his 520 yards rushing, with 12 more touchdowns…36 Total TDs for Norman….Top overall Mooresville Blue Devils runner is Ja’darius Mccombs, who has 671 rushing yards, plus 11 TDs…Very good receiving year for Mooresville’s Dominic Morin who has 993 yards, with 10 TD receptions…Game set for 7pm
The Dudley Panthers(11-0) home again for Round Two 7pm, and “With Dudley being Home Again, does that mean they will Win Again?”….Dudley vs. AC Reynolds(6-4) from Asheville and Asheville Reynolds came to Greensboro and beat Dudley on Thanksgiving Weekend back around 2009, and with that game on the line, Asheville went back up the hill toward home, with the game in hand…Now will Asheville mess things up again??? Got to think Dudley is primed and right to be at their site(Tarpley Stadium) and ready to lay down the “Panther Time” on Friday night…Dudley ready with their rotating QB system, that has worked very well this season….Jaquez Crawford and Brayden Jeffries sharing the snaps in 2024, with #3 Crawford, and #8 Jeffries, playing for #5 seed Dudley…WRs #1 Nasir Newkirk, #0 CJ Neely, #5 Kordell Bartley, and #16 Antonio Lee…At RB, you’ll see #21 LJ Southern and #22 Jayden Brown…These young men and their offensive numbers will be all over the field, on Friday at Dudley’s Tarpley Stadium…Jordyn Ratliff, Dakota Brown, Jalile Elliot, and Andrew Rogers all rule the roost along the Dudley Panthers’ D-Line…Robert McCollum from his LB spot is one of most active tacklers in the state…Jerron Blackwell leads the way in the defensive backfield for Dudley…Kordell Bartley, Nasir Newkirk, and LJ Southern are all working back there along the Dudley defensive backfield…Tonight’s game can be heard on GreensboroSports Radio…

Some key injuries for AC Reynolds, and the same can be said for the Dudley Panthers, while Asheville Reynolds has at least two of their top starting players missing…Dudley-AC Reynolds game ready for you tonight, on GreensboroSports Radio, with Coach Randy Norris joining us there at ‘The Tarp’/Tarpley Stadium…Murphy Wainer Game of the Week tonight, on GreensboroSports Radio….
That’s it for the Guilford County locals, but there is a big matchup going on over in Kernersville too….West Forsyth at East Forsyth, and about three weeks ago when they met to close out the regular season, it was a one-touchdown game with East coming out on top…QB Bryce Baker leads the way for the East Forsyth Eagles, and always tough to beat a football opponent twice, in the same footall season……And the game was held just three weeks ago, and the game goes back to East Fostyh’s campus there in Kernersville tonight…

Yes Coach Bates did very well as an assistant coach under Jimmy Teague at Reidsville…Quite that “Coaching Tree” coming out of Reidsville High School…
I was pretty accurate. SEG did hang tight in the first half which no one suspected but all be and right with the world in the second half.
