High School Basketball Tonight with Scores coming in from Big Four Tipoff Classic, plus we have Game Report on Page-Smith Girls Basketball Game

Looking for the scores from Games One and Two, on Wednsday at Dudley HS…..(Anybody got those???)
Found one of those scores with the Smith boys over Grimsley, 85-47….Smith 85, Grimsley 47
Still looking for Grimsley-Dudley girls score…Found it…
Grimsley girls 46, Dudley 28…See Game Report below…
Final Score from Game Four tonight was:Dudley boys 70, Page 51
Final Score from Game Three on Wednesday was:Smith girls 53, Page 42

Page(3-2)- 9 14 11 8- 42
Smith (3-0)- 9 11 23 10- 53

Page was up 23-20 at Halftime…Fell behind 43-34 at the end of the Third Quarter…You can see from the Box Score that Amani Williams from Smith finished with 21 points for the game…She only had just two points total at the halftime break and then she proceeded to score 19 points in the second half…Page had no answer for the Golden Eagles’ Williams there in the post…

Lola Vanore for Page, had 19 points in the first of play, and that was 19 of her team’s 23 total points at the break…Smith held Vanore to just 11 points in the second stanza, and that’s saying something if you can hold that kid down…Smith posted up Williams, and Smith also made Vanore work much harder for her shots…Vanore with 30 points on the evening, to pace the Page Pirates…

The other Smith player that got hot in the second half was Leanna Maffet…She finished the contest with 14 points, but pumped in 8 of those 14 points after intermission…On Tuesday night, versus Grimsley, Maffet did not score…Tonight Kalecia Deberry did not score a load for Smith, as she only pumped in two(2) points total, and last night/Tuesday she put in 21 points to lead her Smith Golden Eagles in scoring…

Tonight Williams got hot and rolling for Smith, and if you can get Williams and Deberry, plus London Haith, who had 11 points on Wedensday, if you get all of them and Maffet going too, Smith will be a prime playoff contender…

Page is going to have to get some scoring help for Lola Vanore, and it may come soon from Mason Grainger…She had five points vs. Smith, and she did a good job of driving the lane, and getting herself to the free throw line…Now she must hit those free throws, when she earns the right to shoot them…Page missed Aysria Hooper, who is out at least 6-8 weeks, with a broken ankle…Page must contiue to develop the other guards, but it will take a little while to get there…

Game Scoring Summary:
Courtesy of Page Pirates’ girls basketball coach, Ed Johnson

Smith- Amani W 21, London Haith 11, Leanna Maggett 14, Isalia W 7, Kaila D 2

Info on Dudley boys vs. Page…
Final Score:
Dudley 70, Page 51
End of First Quarter:Dudley 23, Page 10
Halftime:Dudley 37, Page 18
End of Third Quarter:Dudley 57, Page 33

Dudley Scoring:CJ Jones with 20 points, Speller 15, McNeil 14, McNichols 12, Fox 9
Page Scoring:Tyren Martin with 22 points, Davis 8, Ike Grainger 7, Murphy 4, Kasai Poindexter 3, Duggins 2, Jeremiah Borland 2, Lucas Schwab 2, Dekai Crosby 2…..

Page is still green, but we know their primary color is red…Pirates’ Tyren Martin is as good as any other player around here, but he needs some role players/supportoing cast members on this Page unit…Young bunch, trying to get back in the fold…

Dudley, on the other hand, has another one of those top players in CJ Jones…Dudley’s top five players produced all of their scoring tonight, so you know that the Panthers are going to be looking for some bench contributions, as soon as they can get them cranking…But that Top Five for Dudley was all over the place/court in Tuesday night’s game…

Dudley also looking good from three-point range, with Speller getting three 3s, to account for nine of his 15 game points…Dudley is quick, and you can tell they have been working harder on finishing around the basket, and it is now paying off for the Panthers….

If Dudley gets at least 2-3 players from the Panthers’ football team, when their season is complete, then Dudley will be ready to give teams like the Smith Golden Eagles boys, a run for their money….Not sure yet, if we will see CJ Neely, Nasir Newkirk, or Jerron Blackwell hit the basketball court after the football season is over…They may decide to hit the college books, and leave out for their new schools/colleges early, like during the first week of January…

Really good also tonight, to see Kasia Poindexter out there, getting up and down the court for the Page Pirates…Poindexter is a true quality athlete, and always good to see him getting after it…

Game Report on Grimsley vs. Dudley Girls Basketball:
Grimsley Women’s Basketball beat Dudley Women’s Basketball in the Big 4 Tip-Off 46-28. Grimsley was led by Shyla Simms who finished the game with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Alyssa Geaves finished with a strong double double performance with 11 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals. Zoe Hall finished the day with 4 points and 8 rebounds.

  1. Tyren Martin from Page is definitely a player…The wild card on the team might just be Mason Duggins…Just a soph. for Page, but that kid is big, and his dad was real threat for Page back in the days when Robert Kent was coaching Page boys basketball….
