Grimsley Whirlies going for the NCHSAA 4-A Football Title Tonight in Chapel Hill: Kickoff Set for 7pm in Kenan Stadium

Grimsley Whirlies(15-0) vs. Rolesville Rams(14-1) at Kenan Stadium, in Chapel Hill, N.C….Game time is 7pm, and the game can be seen live and in person at Kenan Stadium, and the game also will be broadcast on the local TV 48, in the Greensboro, and Piedmont Triad market…TV 48, a Sinclair Broadcasting Station…

That kickoff coming up tonight at 7pm(Grimsley vs. Rolesville), and Sinclair TV will also carry the other NCHSAA Games on Saturday from Kenan Stadium and from Carter-Finley Stadium, in Raleigh, N.C. West Charlotte vs. Fayetteville 71st for the 3-A Title on Saturday morning(11am), and then the 2-A and 1-A games will follow…

Let’s look at the Grimsley Whiriles and the Rolesville Rams numbers from the 2024 season, and see how they matchup, going head-to-head…

Grimsley passing:QB Faizon Brandon 157-204 passing for 2,632 yards with 33 TDs/1 INT…77.0% Completion Rate…
Rolesville Passing:QB Braden Anderson at 229-337 passing for 3,627 yards, with 50 TDs/3 INT.
**********Great year for Grimsley’s Faizon Brandon, while Braden Anderson, from Rolesville, was Off the Charts with 50 touchdown passes…Got to give an edge to Braden over Brandon, in this category…Really those 50 TD passes are what get my attention…***********

Grimsley Rushing:
Mitchell Summers(Grimsley) 2,207 yards on 260 carries and 45 TDs…
Micah Williams(Grimsley) 633 yards on 104 carries with 6 TDs…
Faizon Brandon(Grimsley) 588 yards on 69 carries with 8 TDs…

Rolesville Rams Rushing:
Devon Thomas at 797 yards rushing and 16 TDs…
Amir Brown going for 560 yards and 11 TDs..
**********Got to go with Grimsley for the Rushing Production, and Whirlies have to get the edge here…Summers with over 2,000 yards and those super-big 45 rushing Touchdowns…Go with Grimsley on the ground…**********

Grimsley Whirlies Receiving
Kaden Catoe(Grimsley) with 61 receptions for 891 yards and 11 TDs…
Khyan Battle(Grimsley) with 31 receptions for 461 yards and 4 TDs…
Hudson Cooper(Grimsley) with 14 receptions for 457 yards and 5 TDs…
Patrick Carter(Grimsley) with 20 receptions for 319 yards and 3 TDs…
DJ Howerton(Grimsley) with 16 receptions 284 yards/7 TDs…

Rolesville Rams Receiving:
Gavin Waddell with 921 yards and 11 TDs…
AJ Roberts for 849 yards and 10 TDs…
Jaedon Alford at 812 yards and 16 TDs…
**********Grimsley’s Hudson Cooper with over 200 yards receiving and 2 TD receptions for Grimsley, vs. Rolesville back on August 30, in the Whirlies’ 35-20 win over Rolesville….Cooper has been out with injury in recent weeks, so we will have to scratch what he would do on Friday night…But Kaden Catoe with over 150 yards receiving, and 3 TD grabs in the Whirlies win last week over Weddington….Grimsley can go to Catoe, Battle, Carter, and Howerton, and they probably go in that order…Lots of receiving yards for Rolesville’s top three receivers, but Grimsley has four kids that can really go in Catoe, Battle, Carter, and Howerton, and for all intents and purposes, those Four Whirlies, will not be denied…Receiving Edge, lets call it a Positive Draw…**********

Rolesville with a slight passing edge, when you look at the Total Touchdown Passes from Braden Anderson, Grimsley with a solid edge in the rushing game, and for the receiving, you split the receivers out wide, and we will see who comes home first….

Grimsley won the first and only meeting between these two battlers, and now the same two are set to meet in the 4-A Title after going with head-to-head in combat, back in the regular season…

The Whirlies won that first meeting, 35-20, and let’s say Grimslehy wins tonight’s game, 35-21…Go Whiriles, and let’s hope the guys can bring home the Title….
**********Got to give the Defensive Edge to Grimsley too…With guys like Bryce Davis, Adrian Hill, Ryan Debow and others leading the charge, Grimsley will chasing the Rolesville QB, Braden Anderson, all over the field….**********

  1. Whirles by 7 tonight in a shootout 42 to 35. Should be an exciting game. Can’t wait to watch this one. Win or lose a great season for what I told you all was the best team in the area and the state at the beginning of the year. Going to be even better next year. Go Whirlies!!

  2. Andy you are a genius. 35 to 23 you were within 2 points of calling it although the last touchdown was a gimmie

  3. YES, Andy on it and would have had the perfect score entered if not for a couple of play calls that the opposing team changed on me…Where is my long lost uncle Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder when I make these calls??? He would be so proud of his nephew Andy…Jimmy was such a kind and loving old uncle…

  4. Until GCS and the County AD fixes this issue of Grimsley recruiting and buying players, GC will always have this separation of talent. Wonder how many Kids from other GCS have transferred to Grimsley under the “ROTC” program and actually completed a semester? GCS needs to wake up and dismiss this issue with the “G” or make it right for every GCS, like Forsyth co, to transfer wherever they want, based on Athletics only. Good luck to Coach Brown and his staff in the off season recruiting, like always..
