Final Score:Northern Guilford girls 55, Western Guilford 37
End of First Quarter:NG 19, WG 9…Halftime:NG 31, WG 13…End of Third Quarter:NG 47, WG 26…Final:NG 55, WG 37
NG scoring:Marlena DeLisa with 17 points, Leena McField 11, Cara Trippett 9, Olivia Bayer 7, Faith Sang 7, Sarah Moore 2, Kayla Graham 2…
WG scoring:Janiya Williams with 13 points, Leila Henderson 10, Aamil Brooks 7, Reese Miga 5, Uche Okeke 2…
NG(9-4/4-1)…WG(6-9/0-5)
Looks like Marlena DeLisa could play for several DIII schools and if she chooses to go that direction she will do real well in college…Smart kid, hard-working kid, and she knows every inch of the basketball court, and studies and reads it like she is reading and knowing a basketball map…
Leena McField in setup and dish mode tonight, and NG did a very good job of working the ball around, and finding the open girl, and Coach Josh kept on reminding them to attack the basket, but Northern was going get plenty of chances to score…They got second-chance opportunities, third and fourth chances, and even sometimes fifth chances to score, and they were as good and tough on the offensive boards, as any average to small-size team you will see…No big-big girls, but the Nighthawks owned the offensive boards…
And to carry that point home even further, NG came out red-hot from Three-Point Range…So they were cashing in big-time…WG’s Leila Henderson did not play in the first half, but she got going pretty good in the second half, but she was forcing some shots, and I think she should have gone right at the basket more times than she did…Take it to the basket, when you want to get un-tracked and you need some points to get your game going….Take it to the basket, and for the WG Hornets, Janiya Williams did a very good job of getting to the hole/basket on Thursday night…She was attacking and racking up some good buckets, in the process…That’s the word from the Bill Hollifield Gym, at Western Guilford High School, and we will look for Coach Stackhouse to shoot us a report on the boys game…Now back to our other reporting outlets….
MORE from Western Guilford camp, and Coach Mac….WG @ NG JV Girls…NG wins 56-27….WG @ NG JV Boys NG wins 70-29…
