Women’s Basketball Sets Program Mark With 13 Made Three’s in 103-50 Win Over Dean

BOSTON – Setting a program record for made three-point field goals, Emmanuel women’s basketball shot 13-for-20 from beyond the arc in Saturday’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) 103-50 win over the Dean Bulldogs on Yosinoff Court.

The Saints came into Saturday having made 12 three-point field goals on two occasions in the program’s history, but 13 makes from three-point land now stands alone in the books. Emmanuel improves to 10-9 (5-3 GNAC) while Dean drops to 5-15 (0-8 GNAC).

With a three-point lead in the early going, the Saints outscored the Bulldogs 14-3 over the final 4:45 of the opening quarter, taking a 23-9 lead through the opening 10 minutes. The Saints lead grew in the second quarter, as the home side shot 10-for-12 from the field. Thanks to an 8-0 run to end the half, the Saints held a 49-20 lead at the break.

Emmanuel’s three-point shooting was on full display in the third, as 10-for-16 shooting, including 5-for-8 from three-point distance, helped the Saints to a 31-point frame and an 80-33 lead. The Saints capped off the night with three more makes from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter, including the program record-setting conversion by first-year Reese Bartlett with 2:06 to go.

Six Saints finished in double figures, led by a career-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting by first-year Hattie Sloyan(Page High School). Bartlett finished with 12 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Grad guard Olivia Matela and rookie Lia Krumian had 11 points each while senior Paris Atuahene and sophomore Kalia Saunders had 10 points apiece.

Bulldogs senior Tori Viau scored 15 points, including 3-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Sophomore Azaria Landry also had 15 points to go along with seven steals.

The Saints travel to Albertus Magnus on Tuesday, Feb. 4, for a 5:30 p.m. game against the Falcons. Dean heads to the University of Saint Joseph on Tuesday for GNAC play with the Blue Jays.
