Southwest Guilford High School is excited to welcome Coach Kirkley Russell to The Ranch as its new Head Football Coach. Coach Russell is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a master’s degree from Florida State University.
He has worked in public education for 28 years as a guidance counselor and football coach. Coach Russell is from Salisbury, NC and started his coaching career in 1998 working at Providence High School, moving onto Grimsley, A.L. Brown and then Rock Hill, SC.
Along the way Coach Russell has work as both a defensive and offensive coordinator, spending 10 years at Nations Ford High School in South Carolina. Currently Coach Russell is at Carolina Forest High School, which is one of the largest football programs in the state of South Carolina.
On behalf of our administration at SW Guilford, we are extremely excited to have Coach Russell join our staff. Coach Russell brings a wealth of football knowledge as he has worked alongside some of the best football coaches in the state of NC and SC such as Ron Massey, Bruce Hardin, Joe Montgomery, and Marc Morris.
Coach Russell will be introduced to our SW football team and staff on Thursday, February 6th. Details will be announced later this week.
