Jamon “Mook” Reynolds named new head football coach at High Point Andrews High School

Word coming out today, that former Northern Guilford Nighthawk and Virginia Tech Hokie wide receiver/defensive back Jamon “Mook” Reynolds has been named the new head football coach at High Point Andrews High School…Spoke to Mook back in December, and he was an assistant coach for a middle school basketball team playing in the Bragain Rights Middle School Christmas Invitational at Ben L. Smith High School…Interviewed Mook on the Saturday and we went back and talked about his roots at Northern Guilford High School, and at Virginia Tech….Very good wide receiver and defensive back, back in his high school and college days…Played high school football for Johnny Roscoe at Northern Guilford, and I think he was on the tail end of the Frank Beamer days at Virginia Tech…

Recently Mook has been the defensive coordinator for the Southeast Alamance Stallions and worked with Coach Tony Aguilar…Coach Aguilar, the former head coach at Eastern Guilford High School….I mentioned to Mook, when we talked back in December that I was one of the few people that knew his real given name Jamon, without having to looking it up…I remembered it, from back in his early high school days…Good convo with Mook back in December, and he really seems to be on top of his game, and ready to move on and become a young head football coach…

Mook Reynolds a very tough defensive player while at Virginia Tech and was part of the those highly-acclaimed Bud Foster-coached Hokie defenses…With the new NCHSAA football alignment, Andrews appears to be a 4-A school, and would compete against teams like Lexington, Randleman, Ledford, Central Davidson, and even would be in the same conference with the High Point Central Bison, who look be a 5-A level school, but would still be in the same conference with Andrews and others…

High Point Andres got off to a great start under head coach Mitchell Jenkins in 2024, winning 4 of their first 5 games of the season, and then hit a tailspin, and finished at (4-7)…..

Got the initial word on this move of Mook Reynolds to High Point Andrews last Saturday afternoon, with our old radio pal Dennis White on the info call, but had to hang on to the info, until the hiring was made official, and that news hits today….

More on the way…..
