Finals tonight/Tuesday from the Mac Morris Gym, at Page High School:
Northwest Guilford girls 55, Page 40
End of First Quarter:17, Page 7…Halftime:NWG 26, Page 17…End of Third Quarter:NWG 41, Page 32…Final:NWG 55, Page 40…
NWG Scoring:Sophie Montana led the NWG Vikings in scoring with 14 points…Apple 11, Henline 11, Byerly 7, Lewis 7, Sides 4, Huffines 3…
Page Scoring:Assyria Hooper led the Pirates with 14 points, and all 14 came for her in the first half…Grainger 10, Pyrtle 8, Vanore 6, Thompson 1, Styers 1…
NWG with Eight(8) made 3s…And Vikings playing long and disruptive on defense…Not a tall and overpowering team, but able to get the arms and hands up, and cover a wide area/space on Defense…Shot takers and Shot makers…Page battled way back and cut the lead down to 6 in the second half at 36-30, but Northwest was able to put Page away…Lola Vanore averaging 18 ppg for Page and held to six points on the night…Very good scoring balance among the top five for Northwest, with Montana, Apple, Henline, Lewis, and Byerly carrying a heavy load and getting results…Excellent first half from Assyria Hooper from Page with 14 points…Solid free throw shooting for Page and Mason Grainger who finished the game with 10 points, and six of her ten points came from the charity stripe…Strange to see three Page Pirates ahead of Vanore in the scoring column…Good defense by NWG attributed to her off night….
Northwest Guilford boys 63, Page 51
NWG(9-8/5-6)…Page10-11/5-6)
End of the First Quarter:NWG 11, Page 7…Halftime:Page 29, NWG 8…End of Third Quarter:NWG 46, Page 44…Final Score:NWG 63, Page 51…
NWG Scoring:Conner Nix had 23 points to lead the vitorious Vikings in scoring…Nix with two 3s, eight 3s and one Free Throw…Pearson 15, Stafford 7, Esbrant 6, Van Wert 6, Thomas 4…
Page Scoring:Tyren Martin 12 points, Grainger 8, Duggins 8, Swabb 7, Murphy 5, Rios 5, Bigelow 4, Borland 2…
Conner Nix close range inside shots most of the night, and he was hitting them for Northwest and he was using the glass and leaning on the square…Good at it too…NWG with just five 3s, but the Vikings did a very good job with ball movement, and they were able to find the open man…Nice minutes off the NWG bench from Corey Thomas and Ryan Stafford…Dawson Esbrandt and Adam Reavis must be the same person…The carry out the same role, and are both almost interchangeable within the NWG linep and substitution/rotation process…The carry on very much as the same person there in running the NWG offense…Page missing at least two players due to an altercation that came during the Western Guilford game last Friday night…Hoping to get them back soon…NWG without Caleb Palombo, and not sure why Palombo was out on Tuesday night…Tyren Martin did not start for Page, but he came on later, and was able to help Page, but Martin’s usual scoring rate of around 17 points a game was missing on this night…Interesting starting lineups from both teams on this Tuesday night…Good game and the work turned in was not a direct result of what the Final Score indicates…Good work from both squads…
MORE Scores, MORE Scores, MORE Scores, and adding in updated records later on this evening…Will be adding in the Restaurant comments, as they rolled in…Andy Durham
