Softball Hits Three Homers in 13-1 Victory Over NC A&T
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team defeated Greensboro rival North Carolina A&T, 13-1, in five innings on Wednesday at Lady Aggies Softball Complex.
The Spartans improved to 12-3 overall, while the Aggies fell to 2-9.
Jorde Chartrand went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, three RBI, a home run and a walk.
Betsy Eatmon swung 2-for-2 with one run scored, three RBI, a triple and a walk.
Macy Michael went 1-for-2 with one run scored, four RBI, a walk and a grand slam.
Rylie Williams swung 1-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI and a home run.
The Spartans scored early and often getting ahead 5-0 in the top of the first. Chartrand hit a three-run home run before Williams crushed a two-run blast.
This was Chartrand’s first home run of the season and Williams’ seventh.
UNCG extended its lead to eight with three runs in the top of the second with Eatmon’s two-out bases-clearing triple, 8-0.
A&T cut the deficit to seven, 8-1, in the bottom of the third on an RBI triple from Katriel Williams.
The Spartans continued to string together hits extending their lead to 12, 13-1, after Hadley Gardner hit a RBI single and Michael crushed a grand slam.
In the circle, Addy Berry tossed 5.0 innings, giving up five hits, one earned run and struck out six for her first-collegiate win.

UNCG is scheduled to play Elon (1:30 p.m.) and Sacred Heart (4:00 p.m.) on Saturday, March 1 at Hunt Softball Park.
The Spartans will then host the two teams on Sunday, March 2 with Sacred Heart first at 1:30 p.m. and then Elon at 4:00 p.m. at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
