UNCG’s Marcotte & Dutton Named SoCon Co-Golfers of the Week
SoCon Announces Men’s Golfers of the Week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Jack Marcotte and Colin Dutton of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf team have been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Co-Golfers of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Marcotte and Dutton both finished the Dorado Beach Collegiate in a tie for fourth place behind total scores of eight-under-par (208) to lead the team to a first-place finish at the tournament. Marcotte carded rounds of 68-67-73, while Dutton posted a 73-68-67.
Dutton moved up 13 positions from the second round after notching a five-under-par (67) in the third round for his fourth-place finish. Marcotte finished in a four-way tie for second place in the field with 16 birdies.
“I think I can speak for both of us that the award is deserving for our entire line up this week,” said Marcotte. “Without them it wouldn’t have been possible to win this tournament as a TEAM! Everyone this week played a huge role in the team win. Personally, I feel like this is just the beginning for us. We’re hoping this team win is a huge momentum boost for a strong finish to the season.”
“It is an honor to receive this award, especially alongside Jack,” said Dutton. “It shows how hard we have worked individually and how well we put that hard work to use. However, college golf is all about the team so when we are playing tournaments, we don’t fully think about our individual score. It’s all about the team, and the team got a great win this week.”
Wednesday’s recognition marks the second and third SoCon Golfer of the Week mentions for the team this season as Kelvin Hernandez earned the honor back on Sept. 11, 2024, after winning the Bryan National Collegiate.
UNCG leads the SoCon in Men’s Golfer of the Week recognitions, now currently standing at 39 in program history.
