Saw the Page High School tennis coach, Robert Hogewood, at the Sheetz Conveinence Store on Wednesday morning/afternoon, and he was pumped up about the start of Fall sports practices for Tennis, Football, and all high school sports in general…
Robert says he knows the Grimsley Whirlies will be the team to beat again this season on the local and the state-wide high school football scene…
It is Grimsley’s time, and Robert says the Whirlies will super-tough in 2025, with QB Faizon Brandon leading the way, but Robert also said, somebody else on the local scene could be on ‘The Bubble’ and ready to take Grimsley’s spot at the throne, once Faizon Brandon’s work is done, and he is on the field playing for the Tennesse Volunteers…
One of the teams on ‘The Bubble’ will be poised to become “The Next Big Thing/Team” in Guilford County, and that team, according to Robert Hogewood, the son of long-time WFMY/WGHP Sports Director Mike Hogewood, well that team could be Northeast Guilford, Page, Northern Guilford, or even a team like the Northwest Guilford Vikings…
In true Mike Hogewood fashion, Robert feels that one of ‘The Bubble’ teams is just waiting and getting ready to break through…With new head coach Antonio Hall, the NEG Rams, might be on the verge of entering ‘That Bubble’, and then they could become, “The Next Big Thing/Team”…
On our tablets here at GreensboroSports.com, we know that the Northern Guilford Nighthawks are going to be very potent this 2025 season…QB Jaxson Kemp can light it up with the best quarterbacks in the state…So NEG, NG, plus Northwest Guilford with WR Rakem Hammock back, along with QB’s Ferrell Price and Anders Mitchell, plus a RB Nick Varga and a freshman, the Pearson kid, to look out for…The senior class at Page in two years might be one of the teams that stirs up the sticks too…Poindexter, Williamson, Poole, Malloy, and others are looking to get that spotlight, back on the Page Pirates…The Dudley Panthers were on top for a long time, and you have to watch out, their time may come again….And teams like Southeast Guilford, Eastern Guilford, Southern Guilford, and Western Guilford, all want their time in the limelight too….
So, that ‘Bubble Team’ is out there, and we will just have to wait and see, who that team will be….
