The Southwest Guilford Cowboys came into Kernersville with a chance to make a statement, but instead, they left with a frustrating 33-13 loss to the Glenn Bobcats. The Cowboys had their opportunities, especially early, but couldn’t capitalize on their chances.

Southwest got off to a perfect start, recovering two fumbles on the Bobcats’ first two possessions. The second turnover proved to be the spark the Cowboys needed. Quarterback Emmanuel Martin broke free for a 14-yard touchdown run, putting Southwest up 6-0 with 6:17 left in the first quarter, though the missed extra point would loom large.
The Cowboys had a chance to extend their lead on their next drive, pushing deep into Glenn territory. However, the drive stalled on fourth down at the Bobcat 23-yard line, giving the ball back to Glenn. The Bobcats quickly made Southwest pay, with a bruising 75-yard drive capped by a 4-yard touchdown run. Just like that, Glenn took a 7-6 lead, and they never looked back. The Bobcats added another score before halftime, a 25-yard touchdown pass from Brady Robinson to Semaj Galloway, to make it 13-6 at the break.

Glenn’s momentum continued in the third quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run from Ty’sire McQueen-Johnson, extending their lead to 19-6. But Southwest wasn’t finished. A muffed punt by the Bobcats gave the Cowboys a glimmer of hope. On the very next play, Martin connected with Jeramyah Clarida for a 35-yard touchdown pass, shrinking the deficit to a single score, 19-13, with 7:44 left to play.

The excitement was short-lived, though, as Glenn responded immediately with a 70-yard scoring drive to push the lead to 26-13. The Bobcats added one more touchdown in the final minute, sealing the 33-13 victory. For the Cowboys, Martin finished the night with a rushing and passing touchdown, while racking up 72 rushing yards and 47 passing yards. But it was Glenn’s balanced attack that ultimately proved too much, led by Robinson’s three total touchdowns and McQueen-Johnson’s impressive 192 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
