Getting Cross Country added to the Guilford County Middle School Athletic Programs: 30 Reasons why the Middle-Schoolers are “Ready to Run”

Coach Blue telling us last night/Tuesday night, Coach Blue, Seth Peoples, and DePaul Mittman, all were there to address the Guilford County School Board, at the board’s monthly meeting…The purpose of Coach Blue, Seth Peoples, and DePaul Mittman speaking, was to bring to the School Board’s attention that we need Middle School Cross Country teams/programs in our Guilford County Schools…

The word we got last Thursday night, on our Football in Focus Show broadcast from the new Kiser Middle School, is that the Kiser Tigers are the ONLY middle school in Guilford County that even has a Cross Country progam…Kiser currently with an Independent Cross Country Team, with no other Guilford County Schools to run and compete against…

Kiser athletic director Brian Avolio said it has been tough, but his kids are Off and Running, and that it has been very productive for his Kiser Tiger Student-Athletes…Kiser can run and compete against local private schools and with other public middle schools from outside of our county…

Why can’t we have an organized program of Cross Country Teams in our Guilford County Middle Schools???

And why should we have Cross Country Programs in our Guilford County Middle Schools???

Looks like Coach David Blue, Seth Peoples, and DePaul Mittman got the chance to tell the Guilford County School Board just why this would be a great fit/idea for our Guilford County Middle Schools to have Cross Country Programs…

The word from Coach Blue coming out of the meeting, where Coach Blue, Seth Peoples, and DePaul Mittman were asked to give 30 reasons why Cross Country should be added to our Guilford County Schools athletic programs…Thus we had thirty very good reasons why this sport might keep some kids from running away from home, and they would be able to run and compete in this sport in an organized program at their chosen Guilford County School, and they would be able to compete against other similar Guilford County Schools…

Last night at the school board meeting, Seth Peoples from Grimsley, DePaul Mittman(retired coach from Western Guilford) and I ( retired from Northeast ) addressed the board. We asked them to add cross country to the middle school athletic program. We each spoke the allowed 3 minutes and gave them about 30 reasons why the sport should be added. DePaul was the last to speak and he summarized his address with, “We have given you 30 reasons for adding cross country.”
