Friday night High School Basketball Final Scores from Ben L. Smith High School, and we should change the school name to Ben W. Smith High School, with the “W” standing for Wins…

Win, Win, Win, and in the end, Three Big Wins for the Smith Golden Eagles over the Western Guilford Hornets, on Friday night inside the Bob McAdoo Gymnasium, there at Smith HS…Three Wins for Smith, with Win One coming in the JV Boys Basketball Game, with Ben getting that WIN, 59-24…Some kind of defense being played in that JV Boys Basketball game, it was very intense out there on the court…Those JV boys play defense like they are fighting for their next meal, and it almost like their life depends on them Winning out for the season, and who knows, maybe it does…

Smith got the Win in Game Two Tonight, with the Ben W. Smith girls defeating the Western Guilford Hornets, 60-32…Smith led in scoring by Leanna Maffett and Essence McEachin, who both had 17 points a-piece…With the victory over Western Guilford, Smith saw its record improve to (7-7/4-3), and the Golden Eagles must stay in potential playoff mode, with just a couple of weeks left in the regular season…
(Smith missing their top scorer, Kalacia Deberry in the game, and she is averaging 19 points per game, this season…Western without their freshman guard, Payton Wood.)

Game Numbers:End of First Quarter:Smith 14, WG 11…Halftime:Smith 33, WG 17…End of Third Quarter:Smith 48, WG 26…Final:Smith 60, WG 32
Smith Scoring:Leanna Maffett 17 points, Essence McEachin 17 points, London Haith 10, Kaayah Bellamy 10, Makalah Neal 6, Ariel Price 3…
WG Scoring:Janiya Williams 11 points, Aamil Brooks 6, Taliyah McCullen 5, Sasha Taylor 4, Uche Okeke 3…

Western Guilford now at (4-11) overall, and the Hornets are (0-7) in the Conference…

Game Three on the night was the Smith Golden Eagles boys team topping the Western Guilford Hornets, 83-67…Big Win for the Defending State 3-A Champions, from 2025…Smith, a very BIG Winner then, and even a bigger Winner here in January 2026…Smith improves to (14-5/7-0) in the Metro 7-A/6-A Conference, while the Western Guilford Hornets fall to (10-9/3-4), as we get deep into the Conference Season…

Smith boys led early, and never let their lead get away, with a punishing night coming from Smith Golden Eagles leader, Jyi Dawkins….Dawkins with 29 points and 13 rebounds on the night, and he made a pass that was sooooo much on the money, Mohamed N’diaya is still cashing in on his check…Mohamed nearly flattened the basketball, he slammed it home, with such authority….Dawkins set the table for Smith, and his fellow Ben members were able to be successful, as they followed Dawkins’ lead…JT Tuck had two jack-hammer jams for Smith, Kadyn Turner-Scott scored 14 points for Smith, with Four 3s from last year’s playoff hero…Frosh Nick Cannon found a flow to his game that did not disappoint the Ben L. Smith faithful…

Smith has found a real good starting place with Jyi Dawkins as their leader, and it looks like the best may be yet to come, for this basketball brand called Smith Golden Eagles Baketball, on Holden Road, in Greensboro, N.C.

Western Guilford put up a good fight, and the Hornets were without their starting point guard Jayce Williams, who got a technical foul called late Tuesday night, after the WG Hornets Double Overtime loss to the Page Pirates…Without the freshman studd Williams at PG, WG looked toward Javier Hernandez to run the show at point in the first half, and then the Hornets leaned more on Elijah Riddick and Malachi King to get things going out front, for the WG offense, in the second half…

Western’s top scorer, Seth Harris got the Hornets going strong in the scorebook again on this Friday night…Seth Harris with 27 points to pace the Black and Gold…Here is how the Harris’ Hornet line has gone in the past week…Last Friday vs. Ragsdale, Harris with 20 points. Last Saturday vs. Oak Grove, Harris with 40 points. This past Tuesday vs. Page, Harris with 34 points. Tonight vs. Smith, Harris with 27 points. I don’t know too many people around here that can keep up with Jyi Dawkins, but Seth Harris is doing a good job of keeping up with Seth Harris…And like we were saying earlier, Western Guilfor got excellent second half point contributions from Malachi King, Elijah Riddick, and also Caleb Moore…

Western cut the Smith lead down to 74-60, with about 3 minutes left in the ballgame, but WG did not have enough gas left in the tank to knock off a team as tough as the Smith Golden Eagles…Gonna take a near-perfect night for any of our local Guilford County teams to top Smith…It will not be easy…The team that beats Smith would have to have a near-perfect game, and Smith would have to have a very OFF night…

Let’s take a look at the Game Summary….
Halftime Score:Smith 43, WG 23…End of Third Quarter:Smith 64, WG 42…Final:Smith 83, WG 67
