Baseball Downed in Game Three, 15-4
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell in game three against The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Mercer, 15–4, at UNCG Baseball Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Jacob Budzik clubbed his third home run of the season in the contest.
Mercer got on the board quickly as it put up six runs in the top of the first. The Spartans responded quickly with a Budzik two-run blast in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit 6-2. The Bears picked up another three runs in the top of the fifth as Braydon Kersey launched a three-run shot off the scoreboard to extend the lead to 9-2.
UNCG tacked on another two runs in the bottom of the fifth, after a bases loaded walk and a Brody Gardner RBI single to left field, 9-4. However, the Mercer offense kicked into gear putting together six unanswered runs to end the ball game in the seventh inning, 15-4.
