The Greensboro Grasshoppers had several sizeable leads in this game, back on Sunday, leading 5-0 after the First Inning, then going up 6-1, then 8-1, before they took their 10-1 lead…The Drive cut the lead to 10-6, before the Hoppers hopped back on top, 14-6…Then after the Drive got that 5-Run Top of the Ninth Inning, you had your final of Hoppers 14, Drive 11…

On Sunday you had both teams going for the Combined 10 Home Runs, plus they put up 25 Runs, off of 27 Hits…And the scoring for the Six-Game Series over the past week, was brutal…The Greensboro Grasshoppers out-scored the Greenville Drive for the week, 61-41…Happy to be on that 61 side of the runs scored…This past week was one for the books, or maybe one for the Brooks, as in Steven Brooks, the Drive pitcher…

We had a nice slice of Strawberry Shortcake make a showing at our broadcast table on Sunday…Bryant Roche, from the Greensboro News and Record, and from Greensboro.com joined us for the game broadcast on Sunday, and we got to talking Mother’s Days from the past, and how good a nice slice of Strawberry Shortcake was, on the those special Mother’s Days from the past…And guess what, we got a slice of the Shortcake up at the Broadcast Table, and it hit the spot…The cake slice was sent our way from Eric Dietz and Dylan, from down at the Hoppers’ Ticket Office…Good stuff, and Maggie Bassie was nice enough to bring the Strawberry Shortcake our way, and thanks to Maggie, Eric, and Dylan…Today/Sunday was Eric Dietz’ birthday, and Happy Birthday to him again, on this Super Mother’s Day of 2026…

They say you can have your cake, and eat it too, and that’s what we had on Sunday afternoon…We had the Cake/Strawberry Shortcake, and we ate it, and we got the Hoppers Win too…Always a great day in the Hoppers’ Neighborhood, when you can say, “Hoppers Win, Hoppers Win, Hoppers Win Again”…..

Hoppers starting pitcher, Connor Oliver pitched well, but they only had him going Three Innings on Sunday, where Oliver gave up 1 Run, on 5 Hits, with 1 BB/4 Ks, and Oliver gave up his first Home Run of the season…The Greensboro winning pitcher, Yulian Quintana worked 2 Innings, and he gave up 2 Runs, on 1 Hit, with 1 BB/0 Ks, and Quintana gave up 1 Drive HR…The Hoppers’ Hung-Leng Chang, and Jose Garces both got hit around pretty hard, before Jacob Bimbi enters, and gets the Save, with Bimbi going/throwing for an Third-of-and-Inning…
