UNCG Baseball Receives ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award
ABCA Announces Team Academic Excellence Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team received the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, the organization announced Wednesday.

To qualify and be recognized with the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, a program must meet have done the following, be a college or high school team, the head baseball coach must be a current ABCA member and the team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale), 3.75 (on a 5.0 scale) or 83 (on a 100 point scale) during the 2025-26 academic year. GPA may not be rounded up.

The UNCG baseball team recorded a 3.25 GPA for the 2025-26 academic year.

The Southern Conference (SoCon), saw a total of five institutions from the league recognized in total, including UNCG, Mercer, Western Carolina, Wofford and ETSU.

UNCG concluded the 2026 season 23-33 overall and 7-14 in the SoCon. Three Spartans claimed postseason awards, including Jacob Budzik being named to the All-SoCon Second Team and Ayden West and Tanner Berry earning All-Freshman Team honors.
