UNCG Women’s Soccer Edged by Coastal Carolina, 1-0
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to non-conference foe Coastal Carolina on Thursday evening at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
Coastal Carolina took an early lead when Kyra Kotsopoulos scored an unassisted goal in the fifth minute.
The Spartans responded with a strong attacking effort, outshooting the Chanticleers, 14-7, and earning a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. UNCG registered six shots in the opening half and added eight more after the break, but Coastal Carolina goalkeeper Aris Lamanna made five saves to preserve the shutout.
Summer Kaufman led the Spartans with three shots, while Cornelia Winther had two shots on goal. UNCG’s freshman goalkeeper Blythe Clark made one save in the 70th minute of play.
