CAROLINA COWBOYS CONCLUDE HOMESTAND WITH WALK-OFF WIN AGAINST ARIZONA RIDGE RIDERS
Missouri Thunder Reclaim No. 1 Rank in PBR Teams Standings with Win Over Florida Freedom
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The hometown Carolina Cowboys (14-9) concluded PBR Teams: Cowboy Days presented by Patriot Mobile with a dramatic, walk-off victory, as Adriano Salgado (Batatais, Brazil) delivered a clutch ride during the final out of the weekend to defeat the Arizona Ridge Riders 88.70-88.35 in Greensboro, N.C. Sunday.
The fifth and final game of the day featured several re-ride attempts and challenges, but no out mattered more than Salgado’s door-slamming 88.70 finale atop UB Smooth, edging Arizona by .35-point.
“It’s one of those things when you’re down to your last chance multiple times and you don’t see a way out, but the good Lord prevailed and gave us a shot,” Carolina Cowboys General Manager Austin Dillon said postgame.
“Adriano, he’s been so good for us. He’s got a lion’s heart. I knew when he got that opportunity for the re-ride after the first one warmed him up that he was going to have a good shot. That’s the best I’ve seen him ride all year. He really attacked that ride.”
Carolina went 2-1 at Cowboy Days to remain ranked No. 3 in the PBR Teams standings, just two games back from the Missouri Thunder and Nashville Stampede, who remained tied atop the league standings with matching 16-7 records. Missouri owns the tiebreaker on points.
Everton Natan da Silva (Viradouro, Brazil) stayed hot for Arizona. The Ridge Riders’ leadoff man went the distance atop The Heat for 88.35 points to grant Arizona an early lead, but the strike wasn’t enough to end the Ridge Riders’ now three-game losing streak.
The Thunder got back in the win column in Game 1 with a 262.40-0 victory over the Florida Freedom (9-14). Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil) bucked off EmmDee as the Thunder’s first rider, ending his PBR Teams’ record-setting 15-out ride streak. Julio Cesar Marques (Tatuí, Brazil) got Missouri on the scoreboard during the team’s second out with 85.15 points on XIT Knock Out. Felipe Furlan (Sales Oliveira, Brazil) gave the Thunder a two-bull lead over the Freedom, marked 88.5 points aboard Kangaroo Jack. Macaulie Leather (Calliope, Australia) made it three-straight conversions for the Thunder with an 88.75-point ride atop Fringe Minority to solidify the one-sided matchup.
The Austin Gamblers (13-10) narrowly defeated the Nashville Stampede, 176.95-174.85 – their sixth win in the last seven games. Alan de Souza (Tremembé, Brazil) concluded his weekend with a perfect 3-for-3 slate, marked 87.90 points during Game 4’s opening out for the Stampede. Two-time PBR Teams MVP Jose Vitor Leme (Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil) claimed the lead for the Gamblers during the game’s next out. The three-time PBR World Champion recorded 89.50 points on Flapjack to extend his lead atop the PBR Teams MVP standings over Rossetto to 95 points. Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) added to Austin’s lead with 87.45 points on Float And Sting. Nashville’s Daniel Feitosa (Guaraci, Brazil) battled back late with an 86.95-point conversion on Whiplash, but the Stampede came up 2.1 points short. The Gamblers exit Cowboy Days ranked No. 4 in the PBR Teams standings, one game back from the Carolina Cowboys.
The suddenly surging New York Mavericks (8-15) rode three bulls to defeat the Texas Rattlers (12-11) 267.20-89 in Game 1 – their fourth straight victory including a perfect 3-0 record at Cowboy Days.
Brady Fielder (Clermont, Australia) completed his 3-for-3 weekend performance to give the Rattlers an early lead during Sunday’s opening game, scored 89 points on Enter Sandman. Fielder remained ranked third in the PBR Teams MVP race, now 15-for-23. New York’s Bob Mitchell (Steelville, Missouri) answered back with 88 points aboard Snake Eyes to bring the Mavericks within one point before Afonso Quintino (São Luís de Montes Belos, Brazil) recorded a personal PBR Teams-best 89.45 points atop Bruise Whacked to put the Mavericks in front during New York’s next out. Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Georgia) knocked down his fourth consecutive ride on Cookie (89.75) to close out the Mavericks’ third victory at Cowboy Days.
The Kansas City Outlaws (8-15) went 3-for-5 to outlast the Oklahoma Wildcatters (9-14) in a 260.40-176.40 victory. Sandro Batista (Pedra Preta, Brazil) instantly recorded 88.85 points on Bex Red Eye to kick off Game 3 with a score for the Outlaws. Eduardo Matos (Emilianópolis, Brazil) responded with an 87.35-point ride on Political Cowboy for the Wildcatters as the teams exchanged early conversions. Eric Henrique Domingos (Pérola, Brazil) made it 2-for-2 for Kansas City, scored 88.1 points on Monkey Poison to reinforce the Outlaws’ advantage. Winy dos Santos (Loanda, Brazil) earned 89.05 points on There’s Your Sign to battle the Wildcatters back to within .55 points. Boston Leather (Calliope, Australia) bested Tijuana Two-Step for 83.45 points during a re-ride out for Kansas City’s third ride score. The Outlaws recorded a 2-1 record in Greensboro.
Fire Zone was the high-marked bull of the event with 46.2 points, bucking off Vinicius Pinheiro Correa in 3.22 seconds in the fourth game on Sunday.
