Easily one of the top rivalries in the state of NC. It’s storied, it’s heated, it has all of the festivities in the week leading up to the game and then some.
But one thing this one hasn’t had is both teams being undefeated going into the match up, late in the season.
Grimsley is currently on their longest winning streak over Page in the rivalries history, sitting at 7-0 since 2019.
Page still holds the longest winning streaks at 12-0 from 2007-2018. 11-0 from 1988-1999, including Page’s 23-16 playoff win in 1990. 10-0 from 1978-1987, which was snapped in Grimsley’s upset 1987 playoff 10-7 win.
The current W/L tally stands at Page 47 wins, Grimsley 16 wins, 3 ties.
Enough about the history though, this is seemingly the best team Page has had in 7 or 8 years, depending on who you ask. But it’s common knowledge that Grimsley is currently better and the favorite going into the game. It’s funny because the old saying is, “you can throw the records out the window,” but you can’t here, because both teams being undefeated with a conference title on the line has never happened before.
This is what Greensboro has been waiting for, for so long. Expect Jamieson Stadium to be at max capacity. For sure 10,000+, maybe looking towards 12,000.
WGHSF coaches should have went to their backup QB Friday night against DHSF, the WGHSF Coaches need to know when too got to their backup to give the starter a look and talk to him about the games at play, and it’s just might can the games, I hope when they play PHSF Friday night they good into that with a better games plan. C/O 2025.
I am going Page on GAMES
Mr. Football, I’m going to assume the back up QB for Western Guilford is your son or nephew or something…
Also Page doesnt play Western this Friday. They play Grimsley.
Funny the fans don’t even know at WGHS.
Mr. Football what are you talking about? I can’t understand what you trying to say.
This is likely one of the most important games this century for greensboro hs football…
