WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – The High Point University men’s golf team carded a combined score of 308 in the second round at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Monday. The team is in 24th place with a two-round total score of 616.
Christian Casingal, a freshman, continued his solid preformance in second-round action at the intercollegiate recording a matching 73 (146, +6) to wrap up 36-holes of play to sit tied for 32nd.
“Our guys put in a great effort both days of the tournament so far, but unfortunately we came up short today,” said head coach Greg Flesher. “We are continuing to practice hard after today’s round and we looking forward to another great day of golf tomorrow morning”.
Senior McKay Tye improved his score by two strokes in the second round of play to record a combined score of 156 (79-77) to sit tied for 97th. Likewise, Pureun Kim, a sophomore, upped his score in the second round with a score of 77 (157) and is in a tie for 105th.
Meanwhile, sophomore Emile Menard and redshirt-sophomore AJ Hopkins posted matching scores of 81 in the second round. Menard currently is placed t-105th with a score of 157 (76-81) while Hopkins sits t-119th recording a score of 163 (82-81).
Penn State and Tennessee are competitive for the tournament title with matching scores of 569. TCU (575), Loyola – Maryland (582), Drake (583), Dayton (583), and Appalachian State (583) rounded off the top-five teams after two rounds of play.
The men will continue their play at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate tomorrow morning with a 9:00 a.m. shot gun start.
