The Grimsley girls basketball team used a big third quarter to defeat the Western Guilford Hornets 67-52 in conference play. The Whirlies improved to 5-7 on the season and 3-1 in Metro 4A. The loss drops Western to 5-6 on the season. Grimsley led by as many as 8 in the first half only to see the Hornets hang around. After the halftime intermission though, the offense got going for Grimsley, outscoring the Hornets 20-8 in the third quarter. Grimsley would hold on for 67-52 win. It was a very balanced night from Grimsley as 11 different Whirlies scored. Autumn Clark led all scorers with 14 for Grimsley, while Alyssa Graves and Jordan Britt each added 10. For the Hornets, Marissa Mitchell and Kayla Bridges each scored 11 in the losing effort.
