Hoppers fall to (51-28/10-3), while the Bowling Green Hot Rods go to (54-24/7-6) for the Season of the Summer, in the SALLY…..

The Greensboro Grasshoppers Eight(8)-Game Winning Streak has come to a screeching halt…The Hot Rods got the Hoppers, on Friday night, at First National Bank Field…It was the First Friday in July, and it was First Responders Night, at First National Bank Field…And the Greensboro Grasshoppers lost for the First Time, in more than a week…The Last Time the Hoppers lost, was Last Tuesday, at Rome, Georgia…

The Hoppers got down, 4-0 early, but they battled back to make it a 4-2 Hot Rods after Three Innings…The score stayed at 4-2 Bowling Green, until the Bottom of the Seventh Inning, at that was when the Hoppers got a major Home Run Blast from Sammy Stafura, and his Two-Run HR, nearly hit Robert Stutts in the Circle K Zone, and with the Stafura Greensburra Blast, the score was now deadlocked at 4-4, and the Comeback Was On…

But, just like that, the Comeback Was Off…After a Maggie Magical Moment in the Bottom of Seven, the Hot Rods showed just how hot they can get, as they posted Three Runs in the Top of the Eighth Inning, and just like that, Bowling was Rolling with the Green again…The Rods got Solo HRs from Narciso Polanco, and from Ryan McCoy…The Rods’ Carlos Colmenarez scored after he reached base, after being Hit By a Pitch…

With Bowling Green now in front, 7-4, the Grasshoppers were able to post single runs in the Eighth and Ninth Innings, but it was just not enough, and the Hoppers closed out their last at-Bat in the Bottom of the Ninth Inning, with the tying run, in the body of Easton Carmichael, standing all alone, and left on at Third Base…Two outs, and Josh Tate struck out at the plate for out Three, and at FNB, the team with the Double G, and that would be the Greensboro Grasshoppers, and they would see their Win-Streak go out the batting cage window…

It’s Over…Did you Say Over…It’s Not Over till we Say It’s Over, but for now, we have to come to the realization that It Is Over….FOR NOW…Tomorrow is a New Day, and this Hoppers team will come To Play, and we expect to see a Brand New Win Streak get started on Saturday night….As Mr. John Belushi used to say, LET’S GO LOOOOOOOOOOONG GONE Again…

Good crowd was on hand for the Friday Night First Responders’ Night, at First National Bank Field…And I did hear more than one person say that is good that we had Maggie Basse join on the Baseball Broadcast, on the LONG GONE Baseball Radio Network, because when Maggie sat to join us, the Hoppers trailed 4-2, and with Maggie pulling them through, the Hoppers got back in the game, and tied it up at 4-4, and had a chance to Win it All…We learned those Maggie Magical Moments are important…

Some other things we learned were that it was sure humid on Friday night, and those Summer Temps/Temperatures are Really Ready to Rise and Shine…Plus Bowling Green pulled the string, and the Hot Rods went with Jose Urbina as their starter, and the Rods brought in scheduled Friday Starter, Jack Kartsonas, in from the pen…Bowling Green also likes to score in bunches…The Rods posted Three Runs, in the Top of Third Inning, and then matched that total, with Three More Runs, in the Top of the Eighth Inning…

The Rods pitching staff on Friday, led by Urbina and Kartsonas, struck out 15 Hopper batters, and Walked just One Hopper…The Grasshoppers’ pitchers struck out 13 Hot Rod batters, and walked four of the Rods…Bowling Green with Four Home Runs, on the night, and the Hoppers with just two…And the Hoppers don’t get Out-Homered very often…

Hot Hopper Hitters:Sammy Stafura has been the Hottest Hopper at the plate, as of late, and Friday night was no different…Stafura’s BA up about 45 points over the past Two-and-a-Half Weeks…And over the past Two-and-a-Half Weeks it has been Sammy Stafura putting on, “A Hitting Clinic”….Friday Stafura goes, 3-5/HR/2 Runs/2 RBI/SB…Dylan Palmer went 2-3/Double/2 Runs/2 RBI/SB…Easton Carmichael goes 2-5…Murf Gray was 2-5/2 RBI…Jhonny Severino went 1-5/HR/Run/RBI…Home Run #19 on the season, to go along with RBI #63 for Severino…Brian Sanchez was 1-4/Double…Josh Tate goes 1-5/Double…Carlos Caro 1-4…Camden Janik 0-2/BB/Run…

Solid start from the Hoppers’ Starting Pitcher, Cameron Keshock…He worked 4 Innings, and gave 4 Runs, on 4 Hits, with 3 BBs/9 Ks…The Nine Ks were big, but Keshock did give up Two Home Runs…Hoppers’ Losing Pitcher, Draven Zeigler goes 1 Inning, and he allowed 3 Runs, on 3 Hits with 0 BBs/1 K, and Zeigler gave up Two Hot Rod Home Runs…

Bowling Green Winning Pitcher, Jack Kartsonas did not start, but he worked a Long 4 2/3s Innings, giving up 3 Runs, on 3 Hits with 0 BBs/8 Ks…Kartsonas, like a couple of other pitchers in this ballgame, gave up Two Home Runs…

Top Hot Rod Hitter was Connor Hujsak, who went 3-5/HR/Double/1 Run/RBI…Ryan McCoy was also right on this night for Bowling Green, with McCoy going 2-3/2 HRs/BB/3 Runs/2 RBI…

REMAX Revolution Players of the Game from the Hoppers were, Sammy Stafura and Dylan Palmer…
