Hoppers go down hard on Friday night at First National Bank Field…The Hoppers(26-20) are now 2 Games Back of the Frederick Keys(27-17), while the Wilmington Blue Claws are 2 1/2 Games our first at (25-20)…Fridaykl, Frederick won 5-2 over Bowling Green, plus Wilmington also won their game, 5-2, over the Hudson Valley Renegades…
Playoffs are still within reach, but the Hoppers will have to watch for Wilmington, Delaware…
On Friday, the Dash got 4 runs in the seventh inning, and that put Winston-Salem on top of Greensboro, 7-2, and it looked like the Hoppers were through, and even though the Grasshoppers were able to find two more runs, they did not have enough outs work with on Friday night…Needed more at-bats, hits, runs, outs, and time, and this was going three hours and nineteen minutes and that might have been enough…
Got to let that short-term memory kick in and get after it again, on Saturday evening, which will be “Star Wars Night”…

Grasshoppers Fall 9-4 to Winston-Salem

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers fell to the Winston-Salem Dash, 9-4, on Friday, August 14. With the win, Winston-Salem improved to 23-22 in the second half of the season, while Greensboro fell to 26-20. The Dash outhit the Grasshoppers, 12-8, as both teams committed two errors.
Leading the Grasshoppers at the plate was infielder Carlos Caro, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Infielder Dylan Palmer followed with a 2-for-4 performance. Josh Tate recorded two hits, while Yordany De Los Santos and Edward Florentino each added one hit.
Leading the Dash offensively was infielder Kyle Lodise, who went 3-for-4 with two home runs, two RBI, and two runs scored. Designated hitter Jeral Perez followed with a 2-for-4 performance and one run scored. George Wolkow recorded two hits, while Roch Cholowsky, Javier Mogollon, Wes Kath, Kaleb Freeman, and Derek Cerda each added one hit.
Left-handed pitcher Braydon Risley started on the mound for Greensboro and recorded two strikeouts while allowing two hits, one earned run, and one walk over 3.0 innings. Right-handed pitcher Jose Garces was charged with the loss and fell to 1-4 on the season.
Right-handed pitcher Mason Moore started for Winston-Salem, allowing two hits, one earned run, and two walks over 1.2 innings. Right-handed pitcher Jack Young earned the win for the Dash and improved to 5-0 in the second half of the season.
