Each side brought home a run in the first inning to begin the game, with the Grasshoppers getting theirs on a leadoff solo homer, and the Keys getting theirs on a sacrifice bunt from Ty Head. This made it a one-all game through the first inning of the night.
The Keys added two runs in the bottom of the second on RBI singles from Yasmil Bucce and Ryan Stafford, giving Frederick the 3-1 lead heading into the third in the Key City.
The Grasshoppers inched one run closer in the top of the third on the second solo homer of the day from Wyatt Sanford, making it a 3-2 game in favor of Frederick going into the fourth Friday night.
Greensboro retook the lead in the top of the fourth with a two-RBI single, giving the visitors a 4-3 lead entering the fifth from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
Frederick tied things up at four apiece in the bottom of the fifth inning on a fielders choice RBI from Randal Diaz to bring home Jaiden Lo Re from third, evening the score at four apiece heading into the sixth in the decisive game three.
A pinch-hit solo homer from Andres Nolaya gave the Keys the one-run lead back at 5-4 through six innings of play, with it being the second pinch-hit home run for Nolaya in as many weeks.
After both sides went scoreless in the seventh inning, Greensboro plated home three runs in the top of the eighth with a solo homer and an RBI single and groundout, handing the visitors a 7-5 lead approaching the ninth inning.
Following a scoreless top of the ninth thrown by Braeden Sloan, the Keys had one last chance to try and extend the season, but a scoreless bottom frame handed Greensboro the South Atlantic League North Division Championship, winning game three by a score of 7-5.
