
GRASSHOPPERS CONCLUDE 2026 SEASON WITH 2-0 LOSS TO DASH IN SAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers fell to the Winston-Salem Dash, 2-0, in Game Two of the South Atlantic League Championship Series. With the victory, the Dash were crowned the 2026 South Atlantic League Champions. Winston-Salem outhit Greensboro, 6-3, while the Grasshoppers committed two mishaps.
Greensboro recorded three hits on the night, with singles from infielder Wyatt Sanford, catcher Axiel Plaz, and designated hitter Tony Blanco Jr.
Leading the way offensively for the Dash was outfielder Derek Cerda, who went 2-for-4. Outfielder Nick McLain followed, going 1-for-4 with a home run, one RBI, and one run scored. Additional hits for Winston-Salem came from James Taussig, Braden Holcomb, and Rylan Galvan.
Right-handed pitcher Ronaldo Gallo started on the mound for Greensboro and recorded five strikeouts while allowing one hit and one free base over 2.2 innings of work. Right-handed pitcher Jack Anker was charged with the loss and fell to 0-1 in the postseason.
Left-handed pitcher Grant Umberger started for Winston-Salem and recorded 11 strikeouts while allowing three hits and three free bases over 7.2 innings. Umberger earned the win for the Dash and improved to 2-0 in the postseason.

Both Dash runs came in the Fifth Inning, with Dash’ Solo Home Runs coming from Dylan Galvin, and from Nick McLain…McLain’s home run, hit off of the glove of the Hoppers’ right fielder, Eddie King Jr. Those solo HRs, proved to be all the WS Dash needed, and they take the SALLY League Championship, Two-Games-to-None…
