Just one radio broadcast last night, and thanks to Michael Holder(AD) and to Megan Harbaugh(assistant AD) for hosting us, over at Lucy B. Ragsdale High School last night…It might be Lucy C. Ragsdale HS, but our old coach at Western Guilford HS, Doug Henderson used to always have us do that yell/chant, “Who You Gonna Beat, Lucy B.”…So much for that revelation, but do
CLICK HERE for last night’s radio broadcast replay, of Berry Academy at Ragsdale…We had some good moments during the call of the game, and Coach Coiro correctly predicted the Two Ragsdale onside kicks to begin the game…

Plus we have Richard Walker, the longtime guest on the Primetime with the PacMan Show, from back in the day, and he is on the spot, and Spot On, with his coverage on Matthews Butler vs. Charlotte Independence last night, and this is coming in to us this morning, from the HSOT website…High School OT, and Richard Walker on the scene…
(15) Butler avenges regular season loss in 11th all-time postseason meeting with (18) Independence
The Bulldogs used a stellar fourth quarter to create separation in an NCHSAA 7A first round victory.

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Ever since Butler opened in 1997, its rivalry with Independence has burned red hot.

It’s seen both schools win multiple state titles and featured one of the first nationally-televised high school football games 20 years ago when ESPNU broadcast their regular season finale from Charlotte’s Memorial Stadium.

So, when Butler coach Donald Littlejohn heard last week when the N.C. High School Athletic Association released postseason pairings that his team would meet Independence on Friday in their 11th all-time playoff game, he welcomed it.

Especially since Independence had just rallied to beat his team 22-20 in their 2026 regular season finale.

“I was thankful,” Littlejohn said. “It’s not too many times in life that you get to play your rival again – and at home.”

The No. 15-seeded Butler answered that challenge by avenging the loss in a 30-14 victory that saw the Bulldogs shut out the No. 18 seed Patriots’ offense in the second half. Butler (5-6) advances to play at two-time defending state champion Grimsley next week in the second round of the 7A playoffs.

“The biggest message was to play like who were are,” Littlejohn said of his practice preparation this week. “Last week, we didn’t play to the best of our abilities.”

**********And just a little reminder, Matthews Butler in Greensboro next Friday night, to face the Greensboro Grimsley Whirlies(10-0)…..**********

++++++++++Looks like that is all the damage we can cause for this week, so we take a brief pause for the cause, to say to all the Mas and Pas….”We Will See You Next Week”……….++++++++++
