The announcement raises the college’s number of varsity teams to 21. Beginning in the 2019-20 academic year, Guilford will sponsor a varsity women’s rugby team. Since 2002 women’s rugby has been considered an emerging sport by the NCAA. BOULDER, Colo. – The teams to assemble in Greensboro, N.C., for the 2013 USA Rugby College 7s National Championship have been named. Forty-eight teams in three separate divisions will compete from Nov. 23-24 for a sevens National Championship. During the last seven weeks, teams across the country have been participating in automatic qualifying tournaments. The winners of the automatic qualifying tournaments were each rewarded with an invitation to the College 7s National Championship. BOULDER, Colo. – Greensboro, N.C., will play host to the 2013 USA Rugby College 7s National Championship. The matches will be held at Bryan Park Soccer Complex November 23-24. Three separate champions will be crowned at this year’s College 7s Championship. In addition to the Men’s DI and Women’s pools, there will be a Men’s Open Division champion with schools representing the Division II and Small Colleges ranks.
