Ed’s kids get it done

The Greensboro Grasshoppers completed their home stand on Monday afternoon with a split of a doubleheader against the Hagerstown Suns.  The Hoppers dropped game one 7-4 but bounced back to claim game number two 5-4.

Manager Edwin Rodriguez saw his Hoppers improve to 8-3 on the season and they are now 6-2 at home at First Horizon Park.  It was very chilly for game one that started at 10:45am and Ed said “the wind and cold affect everything, it’s tough to keep the players focused.  There were some crazy things today.  Two or three fly balls that were routine went out of the park”.

Rodriguez was speaking with Bill Hass who writes Bill on Baseball for www.gsohoppers.com.

Pitcher Blake Jones got the save in game number two, his 4th in four attempts and Colin Roberson of Virginia Beach, Virginia hit a three-run homer to pace the Hoppers at the plate in the 5-4 victory.  Outfielder John Raynor missed both of the Monday games and he has been out sick now for three days.  Fellow-outfielder Scott Cousins is on the DL and won’t be back for at least 10 more days.(Oblique Muscle Strain)

The Hoppers are off on Tuesday and will have a three game road trip up at West Virginia beginning on Wednesday. They return to First Horizon Park for seven games starting with four contests agaisnt the Lexington, Kentucky Legends and game number one versus the Legends gets under way on Saturday night.  Â
