HOPPERS SET NEW FRANCHISE RECORD, LEAD LEAGUE IN ATTENDANCE

(Greensboro, NC) With 68 games at First Horizon Park this season, the Greensboro Grasshoppers welcomed a franchise record 441,106 guests to the ballpark during the 2007 season.

Leading the South Atlantic League with an average of 6,487 fans per game, the Hoppers have become the only Class A team in the history of Minor League Baseball to draw over 400,000 fans and grow its attendance for three straight years in a new ballpark.

“We are thrilled to have exceeded the goals we set for ourselves upon entering this venture,” said Grasshoppers President Donald Moore. “Our fans have proven that First Horizon Park is a great entertainment option in Greensboro.”

The Hoppers broke Greensboro’s all-time professional baseball attendance record of 427,890 (set by the Grasshoppers in 2006) on August 30 with fan number 427,891.

The Grasshoppers have welcomed over 1,250,000 fans to First Horizon Park in their first three seasons. They are also the proud recipients of the 2005 and 2006 South Atlantic League’s Club Merit Award.

  1. Congrats. Hoppers on breaking the attendance record. The number should only increase next season. I plan to help break another record by attending more games. See you all pass the gate in 2008.

  2. I just want to see more baseball and less fighting. I only got out to the last 5 home games and they were fun but the fights slowed the game down and with kids you can’t keep them still but for so long. The fireworks were good and with new promotions the Grasshoppers should set new records in 2008. I heard a few games on radio and that got me interested but the guy calling the games is a little too crazy for my liking. I have enjoyed the Durham Bulls games on radio for many years. They are very peaceful and the announcer just gives the facts and not too much BS.
