High School Football Poll

#1 TIE Northeast Guilford and Grimsley:Northeast took care of Northwest and Grimsley ran past High Point Andrews. NEG(3-0) travels to meet the “other” Rams, Reidsville, this week and it will be tough. Grimsley(4-0) faces a much tougher Ragsdale squad this Friday but they are at home in Jamieson Stadium. We will have updates on both games on AM950 radio. Grimsley will be hard to stop and NEG will have their hands full trying to pull off the upset.

#3)Dudley The Panthers had no trouble with Smith and now welcome the Page Pirates to Tarpley Stadium on Friday night. DHS is 3-1 and their offense had been lacking but Tyree Ward got things cranked up in the win over the Golden Eagles and now can he continue the surge against PHS?

#4)Page The Pirates(2-2) are still smarting after their loss last week at Ragsdale and now roll into Dudley on Friday night needing a win to stay at .500 or better. Page has to have a superior effort from their QB Will Newman, from RB DJ McNeil and from defenders DeMarcus Ferguson and Calvin Stout.

#5)Southeast Guilford The Falcons(2-1) withstood Southern Guilford and the returns of William Graves one week ago at SG and this week the Falcons fly in to meet Northwest Guilford, a Viking team, that beat Ragsdale a couple of weeks back at the Viking’s Den. SEG needs a big game from their offense because if they can’t put NWG away early there may be trouble for the Falcs.

#6)Ragsdale The Tigers(3-1) came home and they were rude hosts to Page and now coach Tommy Norwood takes his men to Grimsley to face an unbeaten bunch of Whirlies. Ragsdale can beat Grimsley but it will take a Herculean effort from the Tiger defense to catch up with GHS’s QB Zach Maynard.

#7)Western Guilford The Hornets(3-1) dropped their first game of the year at Eastern last week and now return home to face the Southwest Guilford Cowboys. The Hornets can earn win number four but now the Black and Gold have been exposed and will SWG pile on while WG is down?

#8)Eastern Guilford The Wildcats evened their record at 2-2 with a 35-21 fourth quarter comeback victory over WG last Friday in Gibsonville. EG is off this week and you can be sure that coach Scott Loosemoore will be on the trail, out scouting future EG opponents.

#9)Southern Guilford The Storm(2-2) are not finished. They lost to SEG, but now they have their sights set on Southwestern Randolph, a road game that takes you down into Big Game country, down below the Asheboro Zoo, where the Storm will try to tame the Cougars this Friday night.

#10)High Point Central Black Bison(1-3) fell hard last Friday evening to Wake Forest-Rolesville and HPC will have to re-group in a hurry as they play their biggest game of the year this week in the annual Chair-city, nitty-gritty with Andrews at Simeon Stadium.

#11)Southwest Guilford The Cowboys dropped that game last week to Ledford by a field goal and now SWG(1-3) rides over to WG for a shootout on Friday.

#12)Northwest Guilford The Vikings might just be the best 1-3 team in the state but that won’t help any at all when SEG comes calling on Friday night. NWG will have to be able to run the ball because if they put it in the air against the Falcons, Jusitn Venable is gonna come get it.

#13)High Point Andrews The Red Raiders’ uniforms looked good against Grimsley but that was about it. HPA(1-1) will be chasing Ricky Mitchell all night long on Friday at Simeon.

#14)Smith The Golden Eagles(0-4) have gone to a three-man offensive line in hopes of opening up the offense, but so far, all is not well on Holden Road. The Northern Guilford JV’s want a shot at Smith.

#15)Northern Guilford The JV’s are playing well in year one, but we haven’t received any new updates in the past several weeks. Anybody hearing anything?
