Very good response already on the possibility of Greensboro Day and Dudley getting together for basketball game this season. I think this shows, that people really want to see this game, this season.
Here are the comments that we have received since yesterday morning:
If Dudley and GDS are having problems determining the host this year then why not hold the game at a neutral site like the Greensboro Coliseum both years. However, if both teams value home court advantage a lot, this method won’t work.

Is there any issue with the total number of regular season games that the NCHSAA allows in the regular season. Can’t imagine Dudley doesn’t already have the maximum number of games allowed on their schedule. Can they add an additional game at this point? Think the total allowed is 23.

If they played at a neutral site wouldn’t that cut into the team’s profits?

I would like to see this game too! But I would like to see them play at Dudley, no one that has ever been to a game there can deny the great basketball atmosphere. That is just my opinion, I would much rather watch this game at Dudley than at GDS because of size of the gym and atmosphere of facility.

Why not settle it the old fashion way and flip a coin. The winner host the game this year and the loser host it next year. I believe that’s the fairest way.

The total number of games for Dudley would be right at 23 if they had to count the three games that they played while in Puerto Rico.
If those games did not have to count, Dudley would be in under the limit and this would not be an issue. Coach K from Northern was commenting on Monday that after the first of the year, Dudley is playing pretty much just Triad 3-A Conference games, whereas NG had Ravenescroft and a game up in Philly coming up in the next ten days plus NG had the Pizza Hut Invitational games all out of conference…..
Dudley and Northern are the cream of the crop in the Triad 3-A and I think that Dudley could use a game like the one with Greensboro Day as a non-conference toughie to strengthen the schedule as they prepare to hit the playoff trail.
I was thinking about it earlier and #1 Fan said it like it was meant to be…..Flip a coin and the team that wins the coin flip has the preference of being home or away this year and then you switch it up for next season’s game.
The coin flip is a great idea, the Equalizer if you will……..

No one wants to leave money on the table (from the gate receipts) for this one. So do the following:
1. Play the game at Dudley this year, BUT with a 50-50 split of revenue. No team agreeing to a game at this late juncture should have to go without money. . . THEN
2. Flip a coin for the next year’s host with the winner getting 100%.
3. Goes back to the other school in Year 3 with 100% for that school.
Everyone makes money this year and in 1 of the 2 following years AND everyone gets a 3-year series between the schools guaranteed apart from Pizza Hut Invitational.

Sorry — rationale for game at Dudley this year is due to larger capacity = more total money = more money for each school after 50-50 split.

I’m almost certain that Dudley would go for that, if we can just get Greensboro Day to see the rationale and buy into the three-year plan.
I believe Greensboro Day may have gotten the ball rolling with the negotiations for this series and therefore they feel strongly that game one should be at their place in year one.
If Dudley had no qualms about the coin approach then maybe we could still call it in the air and get back to the home-and-home series.
As everyone is doing here, we need to keep on coming up with ideas/rationale and find one that will work and both parties will agree to.
I think that we are all in agreement that we really want to see this game happen and to make it happen ASAP…..

Who would sanction this game the NCHSAA or the NCISAA? The public school system or the private school system? Not that it matters, just curious.

Why not play twice this year, if both schedules allow? Then you can have double profits.

I think the only reason this is not happening is because Dudley is too scared to play GDS. If they are seriously trying to get a game time now they should have just staying in the PHI.

I have heard from a friend that GDS can play middle of Feb and a neutral site has been secured. Supposedly just waiting approval from Dudley. Making sure both schools have available dates that are satisfactory. Anyone else heard anything?

This would be a great game between to potential state champions. But I don’t know if Dudley will go for it after being beat the last couple years in the Little Four.
