San Diego– The Aflac All-Americans took the field Saturday morning for their final workout at Cunningham Field on the University of San Diego campus. The morning workout concluded with the first round of the Home Run Derby. When it was over, Francisco Lindor, Christian Lopes, Josh Tobias(Southeast Guilford), and Travis Harrison had advanced to Sunday afternoon’s finals.
The players would later have a formal reception to meet the Aflac All-American Classic’s honorary chairman, Andre Dawson.
Later that evening the players were presented with personalized baseball bats from Rawlings and the All-Americans then took part in signing their baseball cards made courtesy of Topps.
To conclude the evening, the Aflac Awards dinner was held at the San Diego Hall of Champions where standout performers both on and off the field were honored.
During pre-game BP Sunday, Josh hit two out onto the TOP DECK in left field at Petco Park! With a wood bat!
He also recieved the Rawlings Defensive Play of the Game with a diving catch in left field.
Great Game! Alot of talent out there. Best of luck Josh in the future. Get your “teamates” motivated/working like you and the team will go far.

Josh handled what many observers feel was the “Defensive Play of the Day”, when he made a shoestring catch while playing in left field and also spent time at second base on Sunday.
At the plate, Josh had a couple of ground outs and struck out once, but he did put the ball in play twice and he put too long balls on top of the roof on a building way beyond the outfield fence in batting practice and there was a buzz about those long balls….
Game was supposed to be on FOX Sports Network, but they didn’t start showing it until around 9:20pm, because of some Kentucky Wildcat exhibition basketball game. Baseball game was supposed to have started at 8pm on FOX Sports Network/TV 51 on TWC…..
Nice write up in todays N & R –

So, Josh went out to San Diego to play with the TOP 38 high school kids in the nation and he:
1) Won the Best Tools award (this is like the “best overall player” award)
2) Made it to the final four in the Home Run contest (wood bat)
3) Hit two balls that went into the top deck in left field at Petco Park during BP on Sunday (wood bat)
4) Hit the 401 sign in left center field during the Home Run contest finals
5) Batted lead off for the East team
6) Started at second base, then played left field and center field during the game, showing his versatlity
7) Made a diving catch in left field that earned him the Rawlings Defensive Play of the Game, and ultimately the Defensive Player of the Game Award
I’d say he had a great weekend!
