Former Greensboro Grasshoppers: Poppers, stoppers, and choppers with the Florida Marlins

Former Greensboro Grasshoppers are all over the Florida Marlins’ roster, here late in the season and one Hopper from this season, Sandy Rosario, just joined the big-league team on Sunday…..

Six former Greensboro players were in the Marlins’ lineup on Monday with winning pitcher Chris Volstad, LF Logan Morrison, 1B Gaby Sanchez, RF Mike Stanton, C Brad Davis and another recent addition, SS Osvaldo “Ozzie” Martinez….

Catcher Brad Davis had a Grand Slam home run on Monday, the first by a catcher in Marlins history and pitcher Volstad got the win and tossed the quickest game in the history of the Marlins’ franchise, with the game going just 1:52……

Volstad, staked by Davis’ grand slam, helped the Marlins earn a 4-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday afternoon…..Volstad hurled a complete game, going nine innings, while giving up no runs, on just five hits and he improved his record to (10-9) on the season….

Chris Hatcher, another former Greensboro Grasshoppers’ catcher has also re-joined the Marlins from Doulbe AA Jacksonville and Steven Cishek, a one-time Hoppers’ reliever out of the Greensboro bullpen, has also moved up to the major league team…..

The Marlins are now the Hoppers and vica versa…..

  1. Nice to see the K-Zone’s Relief Pitcher made it to the big time. Surprised he made such a high jump, but he is a veteran.
