Greensboro Grasshoppers’ opponent from earlier in the year, injured in game last night vs. Winston-Salem Dash

The Greensboro Grasshoppers are back in town tonight on Cinco de Mayo/Thirsty Thursday, to take on the Hickory Crawdads and we might see Nick McBride(Ragsdale HS) with the ‘Dads….Maybe he’ll pitch for the ‘Dads on Mother’s Day(Sunday)….Most recently McBride was [2-5] with Spokane, Washington /Rangers system in 2010…..

Last night the Frederick Keys(Baltimore Orioles), were in Winston-Salem, to battle the Dash and Frederick has Mitch Atkins(Northeast Guilford HS) on their roster these days and the Keys also have Trent Mummey, center fielder, who was in town working over the Greensboro Grasshoppers about two weeks back….Mummey started the season with the Delmarva Shorebirds(Baltimore Orioles-South Atlantic League) and has since moved up the Orioles’ edition, with Frederick in the Carolina League….

Mummey put on quite a show for the Shorebirds versus the Grasshoppers, with super catches in center field and one of his home runs, hit off of the top of the Grasshoppers’ big video scoreboard in right-center field….Mummey was on top of his game and it is a good one and he moved on up to Frederick and last night the Keys beat the Dash in Winston-Salem, but Mummey nearly got the life beat out of him, when he hit the outfield wall….

9-3 Keys last night and the Dash have lost 14 of their past 17 games.

The game was marred by a scary injury to Frederick center fielder Trent Mummey, who was hospitalized after diving into an outfield wall. The Keys said that Mummey was alert and moving his extremities and was moved to a hospital for precautionary reasons.
