Three former ORMA Lady Cadets to sign on Wednesday at the North Carolina Basketball Academy/Greensboro Sportsplex

Signing Day for Three Triad Female Student Athletes

Three Former Oak Ridge Lady Cadets to Commit at Event on November 9th

GREENSBORO, N.C.– Three of the area’s top female high school basketball players are all signing letters of intent this week. Thomasville Preparatory Academy’s head basketball coach, and former Wake Forest standout, as well as NBA and European player, Delaney Rudd is hosting an event at the Greensboro Sportsplex, located at 2400 16th Street, in Greensboro. Set for Wednesday, November 9th at 4 pm in the upstairs conference room, three of Coach Rudd’s female athletes are eager to sign official letters.

Cedrica Gibson is set to commit to St. John’s University, Janniina Kovinen is signing with Virginia Commonwealth University and Jatzmine Johnson is set to sign her letter of intent with High Point University. All three student-athletes have played for Coach Rudd since last year, when they joined the ranks of Oak Ridge Military Academy’s Lady Cadets. They are excited about this year’s schedule, and, of course, working hard towards graduation, and moving on to the collegiate level.

“I’m excited for the girls, all they have accomplished and all they have to look forward to in their collegiate career. They have worked hard, and this is their moment to shine,” Coach Rudd said. Right now, the girls are preparing for a busy final season of high school basketball, which begins on November 10th, against Calvary Baptist, and ends with a conference tournament in March. The Thomasville Prep schedule also includes a tournament with nationally ranked Oak Hill.

  1. Just curious, are any of these girls signing other than Cedrica that went to High Point Central at one time from Guilford County? Quite a bit of girls from this county play for Lady Phoenix that are Seniors this year.

  2. Natalie Harper from Northwest Guilford High is signing tomorrow to play for Spring Hill College (Mobile, Alabama). She has played for Delaney Rudd and the Lady Phoenix for the past two seasons. Before joining the Phoenix, she played for 4 years with coach Kristin Schott Shelton and the Greensboro Lady Gaters.

  3. When a girl basketball player is 6’0 or over tall she will always more than likely get a scholarship offer irregardless if she is productive or not.

  4. No One Important

Congrats to your Girls! I believe that you guys are going to be pretty DARN Awesome! Wishing you the Best of Luck! — A HUGE FAN 3

  5. Sure I agree…Having a torn ACL your junior year could hinder your productivity…However a 15 point average , 1 state championship ring and 1 National AAU championship kinda makes up for that. After all, full ride is a full ride.

Congrats to all of the ladies signing!! Mission accomplished!!
