  1. Darn!

C’mon, guys. Get your heads in the game! I KNOW you can pull off this win. I hate it I’m not there. *sigh*

  2. Nighthawks shutting down Byrd.
NGHS Offense rolling: Downing TD pass to Mooney (7-0), Downing QB keeper for TD (13-0) and TJ Logan with a pick 6 and carries for 2 pt conversion (21-0)

    Go Nighthawks!!

  3. I think my Pirates are beginning to make believers out of a LOT of people!
    .
Thanks, Pirates! So sad I couldn’t be there but my mom is smiling down on you guys tonight.
    .
DeAnthony..you and your boys made your grandmother (and me) PROUD!!!!!! She will definitely take this win with her to heaven!

  4. HAAAAAA the polls had Byrd ranked 10th in the state and NG 16th…the polls are so full of junk….Way to go NG!!!!…Way to go Page!!!!

  5. Page’s coaches made defensive adjustments in the 2nd half. Putting Summers in at safety (at times) and playing nickel coverage made the difference. The defensive front really stopped Butler’s running game all game and put pressure on Riley Ferguson when needed. 3 Interceptions by the Page secondary, when many people said that they couldn’t get it done.

A play that stood out to me in this game. Zach Ferguson made a catch and got hit about as hard as I’ve seen in a long time. What was probably a touchdown, ended up being incomplete and a tone setter for the rest of the game.

Multiple times Page laid some serious wood and on numerous plays, Bulldogs were being peeled up off the field. I wouldn’t doubt that Page was one of the most physical teams that Butler saw all year.. on offense, defense, and special teams.

Page looked like they wore down Butler’s defense, they had a hard time with Page’s running game in the 2nd half. Page’s “tiny” offensive line was opening up gaping holes.

  6. Way to go Page. Best game of the year. Can’t wait to read Jason Wolf’s negative article about Page in the Greensboro Trash in the morning. Your Friday article was horrible, can you write one positive article about Page? Take it home boys. Go all the way.

  7. Okay all you Page haters, you naysayers, all of you who said Page was overrated and that there was NO WAY we could beat mighty Butler, all of you who said last week was the last win of the season, let me see you disrespect these kids now. Let me see you talk smack now that Page just beat one of the best teams in the state, the 2 time defending state champs with the QB getting offers to play Div. 1 ball,

Come on. I dare you. I double-dog dare you.

Page was down 26-6 late in the first half. Gillespie and Weeks made their adjustments. Summers came in to play both ways at qb and safety, He runs for 2 TDs, passes for at least one more, and makes a huge interception in the end zone.

Our defense is world class. Drew Rogers? Man, there’s not a college team in America that he couldn’t excel at. Workinger iced the game with a TD run. The offensive line blew Butler off the line of scrimmage. And that defense has some of the hardest hitting bad-a** players I’ve ever seen.

Butler came out like Miami of the 80’s with their passing game. Ferguson and his brother were great. But in the second half Page’s D pitched a shutout.

Oh that’s right…that Page offense, the one that couldn’t compete against Butler. Play after play, run after run, they wore the Butler D down. Gillespie never altered his game plan. Face it, Summers running the ball worked again.

No matter what happens from here, nobody can take this game away from the Page Pirates. Coming back from 20 points down to a team as talented as Butler was just amazing.

There may be teams with more talented players who throw prettier spirals or who make spectacular one-handed catches. But there is no team that can match Page’s heart and guts. They do not flinch.

Bring on Mallard Creek. I like this team’s chances. Congrats to Coach Gillespie and hats off to Butler for a great game.

C’mon boys. Don’t get all shy on me now! Tell me again how Page was done. Tell me again how the Pirates were going to be one and done.

    Speak up.

  8. PageDad don’t feel bad man……..WFMY doesn’t know NG is in the playoffs…no coverage of the NG game…incredible…Fox didn’t even mention NG……everyone thought Byrd would blow NG off the field, because the dummies that make the polls had them ranked 10th in the state…..NG was actually dropped from 14th to 16th..Ha! and Byrd went up 4 spots..huh?…..so our brilliant sports reporters took it for granted that NG would get beat and didn’t bother to cover them….very poor guys…shameful

  9. @ John – I be the first to tell you I was wrong and shocked at what I witness out on that field tonight. I would have bet my car that Butler was going to beat the mess out of Page tonight. That first quarter couldn’t have gone bad for any team as Butler came out fire coming out both guns. At 20-0 and 26-6 I thought it was over. When Butler, recover that fumble and ran it back for a T.D. { CALL BACK FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE } I thought it was over. BUT, BUT , BUT…… PAGE DID SHOW ME SOMETHING I HAVEN’T SEEN A TEAM DO TO BUTLER IN YEARS. THEY DIDN’T GIVE UP OR BACK DOWN. I been watching football thru-out the state for 25 yrs. Those teams from Charlotte, are known for being QUICK, PHYSICAL, AND HAVE A EDGE { COCKYNESS/ TOUGHNESS } THAT OTHER TEAMS COULD NOT MATCH. But PAGE , those boys HUSTLE AND PLAYED WITH A ROCKY mindset. THEY EARED IT TONIGHT, THEY REALLY DID.

My mind want to say that Mallard Creek will beat them……BUT PAGE IS THE OLD SCHOOL NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS WITH THAT BLUE COLLARD MENTALLY …….THEY HAVE THE TOOLS TO BE CHAMPIONS…..THAT’S A CREDIT TO THE COACH FOR THEM NOT QUITING TONIGHT……..TOUGH BOYS !!!!!!!!

  10. I got one thing to say…WOW!!! What a performance by a great team! Total team effort tonight. I thought I saw the best HS football game I had ever seen last Friday night with NWG at Page but tonight tops them all. As an earlier poster said Page layed some wood tonight for a “welcome to Greensboro big boys party”. That is a second half that will not soon be forgotten by Page or Butler.

UU you missed a heck of a game tonight but your family is in our prayers. John you and your boys have every reason in the world to crow tonight.

Carb up, strap on your helmets boys. Buckner is done now it is time to bring on Mallard Neck or whatever the next team is.

  11. Congrats to Page,Northern,Reidsville and Thomasville. I was completely shocked that Page beat Butler, I will be the first to admit, but I have NEVER disrespected any kids or coaches. I predict games on my own personal observation of teams. I hope nothing but the best for the Page Pirates next friday against the creek, will be a great game. We have so many local teams still fighting it out and we should all be rooting for them, BUT, if I think another team is a better team then I’m going to say so, thats just my opinion. If all of these local teams played like they did tonight, we will have a lot of local championships in the triad. Good luck to all the local teams, coaches, players and parents.

    Vegas MIke

  12. Glad to see your head is slightly starting to emerge from your rear end Mike! I guess that what happens when you are wrong so often.

  13. I agree with Joe. Putting James a free safety took away the jump ball from Butler and shut them down. A great win. glad I was there. Its time for all the “Gillespie can’t beat Ragsdale, Gillespie can’t win the big one” people to give credit where credit is due. The guy can coach!

  14. Congrats to all the Triad area football teams that are still alive in the quest for the State Title. Page made similar adjustments in the NWG game and man you have to credit that Page coaching staff. I’ll surely admit I was skeptical about buying what Page was selling, but they just beat a very good football team with in pretty much 2 quarters. Albeit young, Mallard Creek is an equally good team and If they can win against team I”m not sure any team coming out of the East can beat them!

  15. Well true to my word, I gotta give this Page team credit! They made believers out of Guilford County last night but that horrendous 1st quarter by the Pirates??? 2 plays and Butler is already in the endzone? Nice adjustments at halftime by the coaching staff to completely shut down Butler’s offense. No adjustments from Butler is even more interesting. Congrats again Pirates and we will be back for next week’s game.
