  1. What a year this is going to be! NCISAA is where it’s at. K’s departure has made others much better, and the Bengals are back on track to returning to national prominence. If coach Johnson were at Wesleyan, they would challenge Oak Hill for #1 nationally. We will beat Christ School in the rematch. You can count on it!!!@

  2. I am not gonna sit here a deny that Freddy Johnson is a good coach, but challenging Oak Hill for the number one national ranking is just absurd. Oak Hill has dominance at every position and you think a Freddy Johnson coached Wesleyan, with just three stars could be ranked nationally? Not only are you biased but crazy. Oak Hill goes ten stars deep that play together. No local team no matter who the coach is can challenge Oak Hill, PERIOD.

  3. For the record, Ravenscroft is ranked higher than Wesleyan, so them winning isn’t really a surprise.

  4. Why can’t coach Johnson’s GDS team be a nationally ranked team? He has the talent doesn’t he?

  5. Do you even know what a nationally ranked team looks like? Have you ever seen one play? GDS is not near the level of any team in the ESPN top 50. I don’t think any local team is. That isn’t to say GDS, Wesleyan, and HPCA aren’t talented. Teams that are nationally ranked are very talented at every position and have subs that come in that are just as talented usually 10 or more deep. Besides, the initial argument by Dale Fulton was that if Freddy coached Wesleyan they would compete for #1 ranking which isn’t true, but I find it funny that Dale Fulton basically admitted that Wesleyan has more talent than his Bengals.

  6. Wow!!!!!!! I was being sarcastic. I see it went over your head. To tell the truth none of these local teams have enough talent to be Nationally ranked. There is only one school in the state that has enough talent (United Faith). I don’t think if you combined all the talent locally you would have enough big men to compete on a national level. We have some good 2’s and 3’s but locally we just don’t have the big guys.

  7. the teams around here are now much closer than some of you might think. United Faith won some big games last year, but also lost to more than a few other NC teams. They didn’t even win the state title. There is a ton of national caliber talent in this area. The “big 3” private schools in our area now :GDS, Wesleyan, and HPCA all have multiple D1 players suiting up for them on a nightly basis.

  8. I am well aware of the talent that each team possesses but I just don’t see any of them being a nationally ranked team. Wesleyan has 4 D1 players for sure. GDS has 3 or 4, and HPCA has 3 or 4 (that is not to say that each team could not potentially have more). Teams highly ranked in the national polls have 10 or so. I am not denying the talent the piedmont triad has, I just don’t think it is bountiful enough at each school for any potential ranking. Don’t get me wrong though, I would love to see one of the schools prove me wrong.

  9. I don’t even think Oak Hill has 10 d1 guys. 4-5 and you are pretty stacked. There are some schools that habe multiple, but there are more than a few ranked teams that have only one or two guys play d1.

  10. After I said that I went and looked up Oak Hill’s players and 10 of the 11 on the roster already have comitted or have D1 offers. Others schools such as Findlay Prep and Bishop Gorman are just as loaded.

  11. maybe you are right about Oak Hill then. My only point was that our teams can play on a national level. You are mentioning 3 of the top teams in the country. Oak Ridge last year was ranked, but there were not 10 D1 guys on that team. One of their starters didn’t even play D1.

  12. Also, why did the poster say that ravescroft is ranked higher than wesleyan? They weren’t. If you ask around, Wesleyan thought they were going undefeated.

  13. thats funny, now I see how people can be so ignorant on here. They talk like they know what they are saying and don’t have real sources. It’s funnny how local was completely rejected……twice. I guess people should do some research themselves prior to posting.
