Southwest Guilford Cowgirls expect tough competition from next team up in West Forsyth

The Southwest Guilford Cowgirls(25-4) and their leader Jessica Bryan(coach) will face the West Forsyth Titans(23-3) at the Greensboro Coliseum on Wednesday night at 8:30pm….SWG has been led all year long by Zena Lovette and Jessica Pone and the Cowgirls will enter Wednesday’s game on a very strong pace, after last Friday night’s victory over Porter Ridge, 58-30….

SWG has seen Lovette take her scoring to a level of 23 points per game in the playoffs/post-season and she has also been averaging 6 rebounds per contest in the post-season play…Teammate Jessica Pone, the MVP in last year’s 4-A Title game win over Raleigh Millbrook, has been hauling down 6 boards per game in the post-season for the Cowgirls and ‘JP’ has been scoring at a 13.5 ppg average for the season….Shanel Lawrence is another Cowgirl leader, coming in at 10-12 ppg for the season and she pulls down 9.2 rebounds per contest……Another big boost for the Cowgirls has been Ayana Rivers with her 9-10 rebounds per game, that has helped her take her team to another level of defense in the playoffs…..

SWG will run and run and they aren’t about to change that…..The fast-pace game suits them well and they don’t mind running until their tongues hang out and then at that stage, they will grab a drink of water and run some more…..

Coach Bryan knows overall ‘team execution’ will be the key for a win over West Forsyth and that will come with Lovette, Pone, Lawrence, Rivers, Aja Mott, Jessica Bridges, Briana Burgins and Kennedy Porter all playing at the top of their game……

West has Tori Cook, who is as good as any girl’s basketball player in the Triad and the Jones sisters, at the 6’2 range, each give West the best option of looking inside for their bread and butter……Tori Cook leads West Forsyth with 12.2 points per game, while the Jones sisters check in with Jazmine at 11.1 ppg and Jessica at 9.1 ppg…..

SWG has been on a 20-game winning streak and they did lose Shannon Buchanan and Brittany Conner off of last year’s 4-A Title Team, but watch out for the Cowgirls on Wednesday night….They have a little bit of a score to settle with West Forsyth…..West beat SWG earlier in the year 59-55, way back on November 26, and the Cowgirls are getting ready to change those results, when they get to the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center, this Wednesday night……
