8 thoughts on “The Box Score Summary on tonight’s Southwest Guilford-East Forsyth game and those Jones sisters and Tori Cook were very tough!

  1. How come more of Guilford county fans and highschool coaches were not at the game cheering Southwest Guilford girls on since they were the only Guilford County team still playing? Its very hypocritical to say “I am for any Guilford County School that is still playing”and yet when you look in the stands, there are hardly anyone in the gym. Surely no other schools had a game that night because all had been elimanated. Our we all for one and one for all or our we are all for one as long as its our school? Surely the Pizza Hut Tournament is not more important than the lone school that made it (Southwest Guilford) whom was not in the Pizza Hut Tourney. They could have used the community energy last night!

If this does not apply or is not real, please stay away from statements like “I support any school from Guilford County that is still standing” but I will not come if it is not my own. If anything coaches should find out a way to get their kids to the games so that they can see what a commitment to excellence is versus caught up in their own little cubby hole that came up short of expectations.

Heck this was the defending State Champs playing!

    Does anyone disagree?

  2. I did not go to the game and I have not been to a Southwest girls game all year however I was pulling for them to win over W Forsyth from a distance. Just because I did not come to the game does not mean that I was not rooting for them to win. I was throwing up my best wishes for them throughout the playoffs last year, for Page and Northern in football this year, and I am still putting out good vib’s for Reidsville and Burlington Wiliams until it is over. I may not be there in person but I will at least express my support via this website which is the only way I can at this point. Hopefully, the teams still alive or those that were recently knocked out at least felt my small presents and love via this site even when I could not make the game. I can understand why some people may not think that someone is supporting them if the other is not actually in the building but I have a different view of support when you consider all of the other ways we can show support (ie positive comments, financial backing, heck just simply responding to a posting for the school).

There are a lot of schools and sports that appear on this website and I can assure you that most of them do not even get the first comment about their program. The Southwest girls have and continue to get a lot of love and support from the readers of this site so I would suggest that those things are what they are and the game went as it went. Good season Cowgirls and hopefully they can rebuild with the raising stars for next year. It was a good run !

  3. Guilford County

Good point and I agree with what you said 100%! Faces in the stands needs to be seen that iare visual! Reminds me of the “Five Heart Beats movie when it was okay to hear the music as long as the cover on the record album was different.

  4. I want to thank they ones (fans or not) who were able to make it as well as the ones who were cheering for us at home or wherever you may have been. I received numerous calls, texts, emails, tweets, FB postings from well wishers for the Cowgirls. And although my daughter will be graduating this year, my family & I have already decided that we will make some of the games next year to give the Cowgirls & Coach B our support!

  5. I only support 1 program. Why? Because I graduated from there. Guess what? All of this is moot point NOW because SW got beat and beat handily…….

  6. Guilford County — I’m confused as to why you feel this way….and even more so that you have the nerve to make a conclusion based on one basketball game. I dont have a daughter at SW or a son at Page but I do support all of their efforts. I believe that we’ve got some of the brightest and best student-athletes in the state in Guilford County. You make it seem as if everyone should drop what theyre doing, halt all thier plans and come and pay $8 to park and $9 for admission to support a school that I along with much of the Greensboro have no personal ties to. If you’re willing to pay the $17 per person then we’ll gladly show up and support whatever youre paying for…but as long as its on my dime and on my time I’ll be there when I choose. Thats not to say that these young ladies and young men do not deserve our support but like HoldOnPartner said we can support them in other ways. I have no doubt that Coach Bryan and Coach Kent have done a great job preparing their teams and that the players have done a great job in making it this far. I just think that its really unfair to try to guilt people into coming to support your lady cowgirls when they should be looked upon as high school athletes just like my lady panthers or the girls basketball players from anywhere else. SW did not play every night of the season and im sure there were chances for you to go and support schools like Grimsley, Southern Guilford, Eastern Guilford, NE Guilford and their girls teams but im sure you didnt. I listed them because they were the teams that were kind of down this year in thier conferences. You didnt go see them because they werent winning a ton of games and making headlines every day but who are we to say that these teams didnt work just as hard or have just as successful of a season. I agree that we should celebrate success in terms of winning but our high school sports should be about a little bit more than that. I’d personally like to thank and commend the young ladies from Grimsley and NE Guilford for perservering through some really difficult seasons (winning very few games and continuing to show up and compete every night). We should all support them all because its not just SW that need to see faces in the stands its every Guilford County team that needs it.

  7. @ Guilford County, I was there with 4 other fans of Guilford County High School Sports. I went to Eden Morehead in Rockingham Co, One went to N.E. Guilford, and the other three went to Dudley ( One being a Softball Coach at Dudley ). I saw 2 or 3 other Dudley People there in the stands as well. Not only the S.W. Guilford game, but the Page – Davie Co. as well. Me and these guys over the last 10 to 15 yrs have tried to support not only teams near us, but just enjoying the playoffs of H.S. football, boys and girls basketball as well. W.S. Carver, Northern, Page, Reidsville, Burlington Williams and Cummings, Dudley… you named it, we tried to see it. I would even travel way to Greenville N.C. to watch Dudley boys and Girls play when they went to the Regionals in the past. Why because I love watching those kids play. Really I enjoy H.S. sports more than than watching the so called pros. You had more fans from Davie Co. there supportting them than people from Page & Southwest combine. SMH….As far as parking their are side streets all around, like near the Police Sub Station to park free to save money. Places like Scotland Co., Davie Co., Rowan Co, and those Mountain Region Schools would be there for their teams.
